To all of the mothers out there:
May you be honored and celebrated today and every day for the quiet strength you carry and the love you pour out.

Like the woman of Proverbs 31, you are clothed with strength and dignity—facing each day with fearless resolve. Your children rise and call you blessed because your hands work faithfully: you feed, teach, care, and comfort. Your wisdom and kindness are your crown; your words bring encouragement and your counsel is steady. You store up strength for tomorrow and manage your household with compassion and skill. Your generosity and industrious spirit bless others, and your faithfulness endures beyond the dawn.

Take heart: your labor is not unseen. You are praised for choosing what matters most—love, patience, and service. Rest in the truth that you are valuable, capable, and deeply treasured.

What Does The Bible Say About Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day, as we celebrate it today, is not directly mentioned in the Bible. However, the Bible holds mothers in high esteem and offers guidance on the love, care, and responsibility that come with motherhood. While we may not find the modern celebration of Mother’s Day specifically, the Bible highlights the vital role mothers play in nurturing, teaching, and guiding their children.

Proverbs 31:25-28 portrays the ideal woman as one who is strong, dignified, and caring, which many people reflect upon on Mother’s Day. These verses highlight the value of a mother who provides wisdom, encouragement, and love to her family: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:25-28).

Ephesians 6:2 also reminds us to honor our parents: “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—”so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” This call to honor our mothers aligns with the spirit of Mother’s Day, encouraging us to show gratitude, respect, and love for the women who raised us.

Although the Bible doesn’t mention Mother’s Day as a holiday, it is clear that honoring and celebrating mothers is deeply woven into biblical principles of love and respect.

A gentle reminder for your heart today.

Lord, I confess how quickly I become impatient when things don’t move the way I expected. I want answers now. I want clarity now. I want relief now.

But You are not rushing my story.

Even when I cannot see progress, You are still working beneath the surface, strengthening roots I cannot yet see.

Help me trust that slow does not mean forgotten. That waiting does not mean abandoned.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:7)

Lord, teach my heart to trust Your timing.

Save this for the seasons when waiting feels heavy.

Journaling is a great habit to get into daily. Each morning as you read the Bible and pray, use a journal to write your daily prayers, any thoughts and feelings you’re having and be sure to note anything you feel God is trying to communicate to you during your devotional time. Revisit your prayer list daily and make notations as your prayers are answered. This will help build your faith! Always keep in mind that God’s ways are better than our ways and His timing is always perfect so the answer to our prayers can be: yes, no, or not yet.
Also, going through the process of entering your thoughts and feelings helps to deal with your emotions and work through any pain associated with them. Any positive thoughts and feelings are equally important to note as it helps you to count your blessings!
Adding things you are thankful for in your daily entries is another way to focus on your blessings and will help in maintaining a positive mindset.
