Greener Bay Compost is Northeastern Wisconsin’s premier compost company, serving the Green Bay and Appleton areas with our 3x-Award-Winning Residential and Commercial Compost

Pickup Services, our area’s only food-waste-focused compost facility, and year-round sales of our nutrient-rich, contaminant-free compost! If you’re looking for an Easy, Clean, Convenient, and Green way to reach your sustainability and waste reduction goals and reduce your carbon footprint, then look no further! Our Compost Pickup Services, which are essentially Waste Management services mixed with Recycling operations, were designed to help our environment by diverting as much would-be organic waste (such as food scraps) from landfill as possible and composting it. Through a process known as “hot composting,” which, unlike landfilling, produces no methane (a toxic greenhouse gas more than 20x more potent than carbon dioxide), we convert all the organic waste we accept into a nutrient-rich soil amendment known as compost, which not only nourishes plants of all kinds, but makes our soil healthier and sequesters carbon from our atmosphere. According to the Wisconsin DNR’s (Department of Natural Resources) 2020-2021 statewide waste characterization study, approximately half of what ends up in our landfills is (or could have been, at some point) compostable, and we find that to be unacceptable, hence why we do what we do.

The Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology at UW-Stevens Point is one of eight labs in the country able to verify products as BPI Certified Compostable. The lab mainly works with food service products, compostable plastic bags and pouches for coffee.

The lab tests products for how well they break down and how beneficial the material is for plants.

Stories like this highlight why LEGITIMATE Community Composting organizations like Greener Bay Compost, which provide consistent, reliable, five-star service to the communities we serve, are so valuable, and why local governments and organizations should show us a lot more respect.

Look at what is going on in , .

This is what happens when governments hire amateurs, fly-by-night operations, and unserious compost haulers to do the work they should be giving to reputable organizations like ours. ...and sometimes a lot less than that! 🤦‍♂️

"The city of Dearborn Heights demanded a $13,000 deduction from Priority Waste and is withholding a $250,000 payment after widespread delays in compost, recycling and bulk pickups, the city said. Neighborhoods across the city have brown paper bags full of compost sitting curbside uncollected, Mayor Mo Baydoun said."

This is one of the most important things Green Bay residents can do to improve our recycling: keep plastic bags, wraps, and films out of the curbside recycling bin. Plastic bags get tangled in the sorting equipment at the recycling facility, causing slowdowns and damage that affect the entire process. The good news is that plastic bags can be recycled. Most major grocery stores have dedicated drop-off bins for plastic bags and film. Please use those, and keep your curbside bin free for the materials that belong there. Together, we can make sure more of what we collect actually gets recycled. ♻️

Glyphosate exposure was shown to impair honeybee foraging and change brain chemistry, potentially threatening colony health and pollination effectiveness.

New research suggests a widely used herbicide may have subtle but significant effects on honeybees.

Did you know? At Greener Bay Compost, we weigh each of the hundreds of buckets we pick up from our Residential and Commercial Compost Pickup Service subscribers (www.GBCompost.com/Services) *individually*, so we know exactly how much food waste/scraps and associated organics we are diverting from our landfills! ⚖️

We then add up all the individual numbers to keep track of our total lifetime diversion number, which we proudly feature on both our homepage at www.GBCompost.com and on our Leaderboard at www.GBCompost.com/Leaderboard! 💪😁

The fact that we do this, or have the ABILITY to do this, is one of the reasons the use of our Award-Winning Services should be VERY ATTRACTIVE to governments and businesses/organizations that could be utilizing them, because it enables us to QUANTIFY / MEASURE our results (which is not something all compost organizations are willing or able to do), which said organizations could then promote at their meetings/conferences, in their employee newsletters, on their social media, and on their own websites! 📢 The fact that more organizations don't take advantage of this is, honestly, shocking to us! 🤯

On a related note: We don't include the weight of our buckets (which weight around 2.5 pounds each) when we record our bucket weights! We "tare" that off so we are recording only the weight of the compostables we're going to compost, and not exaggerating or overinflating our diversion numbers to make us look more "sustainable" than we are (like many "composters" do)!

That said, we are not only the BEST and ONLY Community Composter within 100 miles; we are also the most HONEST!
