🚨 FREE / VA-FUNDED TECH TRAINING FOR VETERANS, TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS & MILITARY SPOUSES 🚨

Thinking about getting into IT, cybersecurity, coding, software, cloud, or tech support?

There are programs out there that can help military-connected families build real career skills without taking on huge training costs.

Here are 3 worth checking out:

✅ 1. Onward to Opportunity — Syracuse University / IVMF
This is a no-cost career training program for eligible transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard/Reserve members, and military spouses.

Training pathways include IT, cybersecurity, business, project management, and certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, A+, AWS, Azure, Python, and more.

Learn more / apply:
https://ivmf.syracuse.edu/programs/career-training/

✅ 2. SANS Cyber Academy / Cybersecurity Scholarship Programs
SANS is one of the most respected cybersecurity training organizations in the country. Their Cyber Academy model is competitive, scholarship-based, and includes hands-on cybersecurity training with GIAC certification opportunities.

These seats are competitive, so check the current application windows and eligibility requirements.

https://www.sans.org/cyber-academy

✅ 3. VA VET TEC 2.0
VET TEC 2.0 is a VA high-tech training program for eligible Veterans and active-duty service members within 180 days of separation.

It can help cover approved training in areas like:

💻 Computer programming
💻 Computer software
💻 Data processing
💻 Information sciences
💻 Media application

VA says the program can pay tuition and fees directly to the school and may also provide housing money, books, and supplies.

Important: VET TEC 2.0 is limited to 4,000 paid participants per fiscal year, so don’t wait if this fits your goals.

Cybersecurity and tech careers can lead to strong opportunities, but no certification guarantees a job or a specific salary. The key is training, certification, resume work, networking, and applying early.

🚨 NEW VA FORECLOSURE HELP FOR VETERANS WITH VA HOME LOANS 🚨

If you are a Veteran with a VA-backed home loan and you’ve fallen behind on your mortgage, there is a new VA foreclosure-prevention option you need to know about.

It is called the VA Partial Claim Program, and it officially launched on June 15, 2026.

This could help some Veterans stay in their homes.

But here’s the important part:

✅ It may help bring your mortgage current
✅ It may help you avoid foreclosure
✅ It may prevent you from needing one large lump-sum catch-up payment
⚠️ But it is NOT free money
⚠️ It is NOT automatic
⚠️ You must work through your mortgage servicer

Here’s how it works in plain English:

If you qualify, your mortgage servicer may place you on a 3-month trial payment plan. That means you need to show you can make your regular mortgage payment on time for 3 months.

If you successfully complete that trial period, the overdue amount may be handled through a partial claim. That can bring the loan current and move the missed-payment amount to a separate repayment obligation that is generally paid later when the loan is paid off, refinanced, or the home is sold.

That means this program is best for a Veteran who had a temporary financial hardship but can now afford the regular mortgage payment again.

Examples could include:

• Job loss
• Medical issues
• Divorce
• Unexpected bills
• Delayed benefits
• Temporary income disruption

This matters because falling behind on a mortgage can snowball fast. Once late fees, legal fees, and foreclosure timelines start moving, it can become overwhelming. This program gives qualifying Veterans another tool to stop that spiral.

A few things Veterans should know:

🔹 You generally need to be at least 3 full months behind
🔹 The home must be your primary residence
🔹 Rental and investment properties do not qualify
🔹 You must complete the 3-month trial payment plan
🔹 The amount is still a real debt that must be repaid later
🔹 Some servicers may still be implementing the program into their systems

If you are behind on a VA-backed mortgage, do NOT wait.

Call your mortgage servicer and say:

“I have a VA-backed loan, I am behind on my mortgage, and I want to be reviewed for all VA home-retention options, including the VA Partial Claim Program.”

Then ask these questions:

1. Am I being reviewed for a VA Partial Claim?
2. Do I qualify for a 3-month trial payment plan?
3. What is the total amount needed to bring my loan current?
4. Will this increase my monthly mortgage payment?
5. What happens if I sell, refinance, or pay off the loan?
6. Are you fully implemented for the VA Partial Claim Program yet?

If your servicer is not giving you clear answers, contact VA Loan Guaranty for help:

📞 877-827-3702, option 6

This is not a bailout. It is not a grant. It is a foreclosure-prevention tool that may help Veterans who are behind but able to get back on track.

Please share this. A Veteran in your community may be quietly struggling and not know this option exists.

🇺🇸 June 12 — Women Veterans Day
Today we honor the women who have worn the uniform and continue to serve our nation in countless ways — in leadership, mentorship, and community.

Their courage didn’t end when the mission did. It lives on in every act of service, every voice that lifts others up, and every hand extended to help a fellow veteran find connection and purpose.

At H.O.O.A.H. WI, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and continued impact of women veterans who remind us daily that service never stops — it simply evolves.

💪 Honor. Thank. Empower.

🇺🇸 VETERAN RESOURCE SPOTLIGHT: What is VR&E? 🇺🇸

Many veterans know about the GI Bill, but fewer know about Veteran Readiness and Employment, also called VR&E or Chapter 31.

VR&E is a VA benefit designed to help veterans with service-connected disabilities prepare for, find, and keep suitable employment. In some cases, that can include college, technical training, certifications, apprenticeships, job placement, independent living support, or even help exploring self-employment.

This is different from the GI Bill.

The GI Bill is an education benefit.

VR&E is an employment program.

That means the big question is not just, “Do I want to go to school?”
The real question is:

➡️ “Does my service-connected disability create a barrier to suitable employment, and would this training or support help me overcome that barrier?”

✅ You may be eligible to apply for VR&E if:

• You did not receive a dishonorable discharge
• You have a VA service-connected disability rating of at least 10%
• A Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor determines that your disability creates an employment handicap
• Your goal is tied to suitable employment that fits your abilities, interests, and limitations

VR&E may help with things like:

🎓 College or vocational training
🛠️ Certifications or trade programs
💼 Job search and resume support
🏢 Returning to work with a previous employer
🚀 Starting or exploring a small business
♿ Independent living services if employment is not currently feasible

📌 How does VR&E work with the GI Bill?

If you qualify for both VR&E and the Post-9/11 GI Bill, it may be worth looking at VR&E first. In many cases, using VR&E first may help preserve remaining GI Bill entitlement. Some veterans using VR&E may also qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill subsistence allowance rate, which is often higher than the standard VR&E monthly allowance.

Every veteran’s situation is different, so don’t assume you do or do not qualify without applying and talking to a VR&E counselor.

📝 How to apply:

Apply online through VA.gov using VA Form 28-1900, “Application for Veteran Readiness and Employment for Claimants with Service-Connected Disabilities.”

👉 Apply here:
https://www.va.gov/careers-employment/vocational-rehabilitation/apply-vre-form-28-1900/introduction

After you apply, VA will usually schedule an orientation and then an appointment with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Before your appointment, be ready to explain:

• Your service-connected disabilities
• How those conditions affect your ability to work
• What type of work or career you are trying to pursue
• Why education, training, or other support is needed
• Why that path is realistic and suitable for your limitations

Bottom line:

VR&E is not just “free school.”
It is a powerful employment benefit for veterans whose service-connected disabilities make it harder to prepare for, obtain, or maintain suitable employment.

If you are a veteran with a service-connected disability and you are struggling with employment, changing careers, returning to school, or figuring out what comes next, VR&E may be worth looking into.

🇺🇸 Don’t leave earned benefits on the table.
