Our Story

The Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Alliance is a charitable organization whose purpose is to design, finance and build an educational memorial park that honors veterans – both living and to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. The project will be located on a two-acre parcel located on Riverview Drive just off Velp avenue in the Village of Howard just West of I-41.

The two cornerstones of our project are the Educational Area and the Veteran’s Memorial. The Educational Area will focus on the history of conflicts, both large and small. The details, background work and design are being done in partnership with the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice & Public Understanding at St. Norbert College. Initial plans are currently in development.

The Veteran’s Memorial will be a park-like setting with a reflecting pool, granite walls with engraved names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as sponsor ‘bricks’ that local families can purchase to place their veteran’s name within the monument. With more than 90,000 veterans calling Northeast Wisconsin home this will be a place for them, their families, and future generations to learn about how their community responded to crisis events throughout the modern history of our state and our nation.

Above all, this will be a place where those who gave the ultimate sacrifice will be honored.
