Colorado voters, please carefully research and consider your vote for Prop #133 on your ballot.
This issue started as Initiative #108 in the CO legislature. After several hours of expert testimony, including survivors of human trafficking, the bill was killed.
Though there was (is) strong agreement on the bill's intent - to strengthen punishment for the abhorrent crime of trafficking minors and protect our children - the possible unintended consequences may actually harm those victims.
Zonta Club of Greeley has worked actively through NE CO Coalition against Trafficking for 15 years. Zonta does not take political stances. With the potential for this Prop 133 to be used as a hot-button vote, we urge each person to know the history and investigate through sources you trust to make an educated choice for Colorado's most vulnerable - our children.

Today we celebrated the ton of work and collaboration that became the Greeley Police “Soft Interview Rooms”. The rooms help create a calmer, trauma-informed environment for victims and vulnerable witnesses. The ‘adult’ room has an observation window to the adjoining one, so that kids of all ages can play, read or watch TV, free from adult talk. Victims, especially survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault or trafficking, feel safer to speak openly – which leads to more accurate information, better evidence and a stronger outcome for them and their legal journeys.
Today’s tour provided the added bonus of both professional and community Advocates sharing what their groups do in our work to help victims. From law enforcement to courts, housing, safety, food, rehab, education or job preparation Greeley has a wide spectrum of support available. Sharing that information to maximize everyone’s work and resources – priceless!
A “shout out” from Zonta to Greeley Police for these Safe Rooms; a professional quality tool to support women and girls and all victims or survivors in this community. As National Crime Victims' Rights Week comes to a close, we want to shine a light on our Victim Services Unit. While our officers work to investigate crimes, our advocates work to care for the people affected by them.

Justice is about more than just an arrest; it’s about healing. Our Victim Services advocates are the calm in the storm for many in our community.

From navigating the legal system to finding emergency resources and emotional support, these dedicated professionals ensure that no one has to walk the path to recovery alone. They don't often seek the spotlight, but they are there in the early hours of the morning and the late hours of the night, providing a voice for those who feel unheard.

We are proud of the compassion and integrity these ladies bring to our department every day. To our advocates: thank you for your patience, your empathy, and your unwavering commitment to Greeley and the surrounding community.

Last week, we were honored to host an open house to celebrate the newly renovated Victim Services Unit interview rooms. These transformations were made possible through the incredible generosity of the Zonta Club of Greeley and Alpha Delta Kappa.

These rooms are more than just four walls—they are designed to provide safety, comfort, and dignity for victims during some of their most difficult moments. We are so grateful for these changemakers who stepped up to help us better serve our community.
