No additional catalogs will be available for sale at the Field Trial, Hunt Test or WC/WCX. Order ahead of time and those catalogs can be picked up at the various field events.

HEALTH REMINDER AHEAD OF THE 2026 GRCA NATIONAL SPECIALTY

For many of us, this year’s GRCA National Specialty will involve interstate travel. The rules for that are changing. Many states have changed travel requirements for dogs due to the New World Screwworm (NWS) outbreak. NWS is an invasive species that threatens the US livestock industry and the larvae can infect dogs. AKC reports that at least 45 states have issued rules related to the NWS outbreak and many of these included restrictions on transport of animals, including dogs. Dogs from or traveling through affected areas, or even through states with affected areas, may not be able to enter other states. The rules differ in different states, and the situation is constantly evolving. In some cases, it may be necessary to demonstrate that the dog matches the travel documents and owners may want to travel with a microchip scanner. We recommend checking the situation before you travel.



This is also reminder that canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) can spread quickly at dog shows but many cases can be prevented. There are several different infectious agents that can cause CIRD. The Merck Animal Health online map of these agents indicates that some agents are high in some states https://www.dogflu.com/outbreak-map/. Dogs will be traveling to the 2026 GRCA National from many states and we want them all to be healthy and stay that way. Please check with your regular veterinarian regarding whether your dog(s) may need anything in advance of your planned travel to the National, such as a canine influenza or kennel cough booster. Please also remember that it is a violation of AKC rules to have any dog with a communicable disease on the show grounds or premises (Section 9, Chapter 11 of Rules Applying to Dog Shows). In addition, if you have a dog exposed to an upper respiratory illness, please do not bring that dog but instead quarantine that dog. Above all, do not bring any dog with signs of any infectious disease to the show.

Requirements:
Must include the approved theme “Fields Of Gold”, “GRCA 2028 National Specialty, Iowa” and feature at least one Golden Retriever body or head in profile - from the side.

Rules and Prize:
Submissions must be received by 11:59 pm EST on 10/31/2026 and must come from a current GRCA member.
All designs must be original work.
Winning design is subject to alteration by the NS Committee/GRCA Store Team based on color/printing/embroidery needs and cost.

All design submissions will be the property of GRCA. The winning designer will be credited in the 2027 and 2028 catalog if their artwork is used by the organization.
The NS Committee reserves the right to use a design not submitted in the contest.
The prize for the chosen design is a $100 GRCA Store Gift Certificate. The winner will be chosen by the NS Committee.
