"When I began searching for a college to transfer from my community college, I knew I wanted a place where I felt supported both academically and personally, especially as a student-athlete. After attending a large school in Seattle where it was easy to feel lost, I was drawn to the University of Providence for its close-knit campus, strong paralegal program, and location close to home.

From the start, UP felt different. The small campus made it easier to balance academics, athletics, and leadership. Professors know me by name and understand the demands of being a student-athlete, which has made a huge difference in my success. The paralegal program has challenged me in the best ways through hands-on learning and real-world legal applications, and my professors have been mentors who genuinely care about my future.

Beyond the classroom and athletics, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in student government as the Athletic Ambassador. This role has allowed me to advocate for student-athletes, strengthen communication between athletics and campus leadership, and give back to a community that has supported me from day one.

UP has helped me grow in confidence, leadership, and balance. Choosing the University of Providence was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s more than a college; it’s a community where you are known, supported, and encouraged to become your best self."

"When I was deciding where to go to college, I remember feeling overwhelmed and unsure about what the right choice would be. I wanted a place where I could grow, feel supported, and truly find my place, not just academically, but as a person. Choosing UP ended up being one of the best decisions I could have made.

From the beginning, I felt welcomed by both students and staff, and that made such a difference in my transition into college life. The professors genuinely care and want to see you succeed, and that support has helped me feel more confident in my studies and my future.

Being here has already helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve gotten involved in different activities and opportunities on campus, and each experience has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. I’ve learned more about who I am, what I value, and what I want to do moving forward. UP has given me a space where I feel encouraged to challenge myself while also being supported every step of the way."

"Academically, my experience here at the University of Providence has been challenging and fulfilling. My studies in the sciences allowed me to do hands-on work while also building meaningful relationships with my professors, all who genuinely care about my growth and success. My academic advisor and my academic success counselor are always caring and attentive to my needs, and they always ensure that I am on the right path.

Spiritually, UP has shown me what it truly means to live out my faith, not just believe in it. Through opportunities in Campus Ministry and service trips, I learned how to apply my values to real-life situations and use my education for something greater than myself.

What truly makes the University of Providence stand out is the community. We are a small campus, but that’s not a weakness; it creates an environment where it is easy to form real connections. The professors, staff, and fellow students become family almost instantly. As an international student, that sense of belonging means everything to me. The school has supported me academically, personally, and spiritually, shaping me to be who I am today. Argos Shine!

One of the voices shaping UP Student Government is Madison White, second-year and Public Relations Officer for 2025 - 2026.

"When I first started looking at colleges, I was searching for a place where I could continue playing the sport I love while also receiving a strong education. Softball is what initially brought me here, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that UP would become so much more than just the place where I went to school.

As a pitcher for the Providence Argos softball team, I’ve grown tremendously both on and off the field. Being part of a college athletics program has taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of teamwork. There is something incredibly special about representing our university every time we step onto the field. The support from classmates, professors, and staff at our games reminds me that we are part of a close-knit community that genuinely cares about one another.

Beyond athletics, I serve as the Public Relations Officer for Student Government. This role has allowed me to connect with students across campus and advocate for their voices. It has strengthened my leadership skills and given me a deeper appreciation for how much our faculty and staff invest in student success. One of the things I love most about UP is the welcoming atmosphere. Professors know us by name, take time to check in, and truly want to see us succeed both academically and personally. That sense of belonging is something I will always value.

Looking back on my time so far, I am grateful that softball brought me to the University of Providence, but I am even more grateful for the people who made me fall in love with it. UP has given me opportunities to grow as an athlete, a leader, and a future educator. I am proud to be an Argo, and I look forward to continuing to make memories, build relationships, and prepare for the classroom where I hope to inspire the next generation."
