Valerie Dobbs, long time supporter of Great Falls Public Schools and past District employee passed away May 4, 2025. Before passing, however, she chose the Foundation as one of her beneficiaries.
Her daughters said, "We miss her greatly every day. As her daughters, we find it very fitting that she chose to have part of her estate be donated to the Great Falls Public Schools Foundation, a cause that she found near and dear to her heart.
Val’s legacy lives on through the countless students she believed in over the years as an educator. She worked for the Great Falls Public Schools District for many years, primarily as a tutor and advocate for Native American students in middle and high school, and in later years, at local colleges. She was great about keeping in touch with her former students and checking in with them to make sure they were working towards achieving their goals.
Besides her work as a tutor, our mom was also known throughout the community for her passion for education, arts, and culture. During our school years, our mom played an active role with the PTA and Bison Boosters. You may remember “Mama Dobbster” as the 50/50 gal, sporting her bison hat as she walked up and down the bleachers selling tickets at GFH Bison games! She continued to be a loyal supporter of Bison athletics long after we graduated.
We are honored to pass this gift on to your foundation on behalf of our mother, and look forward to the impact it will make on Great Falls Public Schools students."
Sincerely,
Katie (Dobbs) Alleven and Andrea (Dobbs) Hammo
GFH Class of 2009 and 2007
Katie and Andrea, your mom sounded like a wonderful woman and made a difference in many students' lives. We are pleased to continue her legacy through her generous gift. Thank you both - many hugs!
