SHADE - Tanzania Empowering those affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities in Tanzania. Shade's three main areas of focus are education, advocacy, and outreach.

Shade is a Christian organization empowering children, families, and communities affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities in Tanzania. Our vision is that people with albinism and other vulnerabilities are accepted and respected in their communities and live as productive citizens, safe and free from persecution. Education: We are building Shade School, a place of unity amidst diversity, wher

e all children are accepted and valued. Advocacy: We believe that mindsets can be changed through education and awareness-raising. We aim to educate people on the truths of albinism and fight for their rights in society. Outreach: We aim to be fully present in our community in order to love and empower our neighbors holistically. All of Shadeโ€™s work is infused with the Gospel message. True transformation will come when all people experience the forgiveness of Jesus towards them, the Father heart of God revealed to them, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit guiding them. When faced by the power of Godโ€™s love, violence and prejudice against people with albinism will not stand.

Shade's teachers work hard every day to make sure students not only receive a quality education, but also learn to make friends, grow in their confidence, and discover the unique gifts God has given them.

Getting ready for the next rainy season ๐ŸŒง๐Ÿšง

When it rains, traveling can become extremely difficult. Our crews are working on a new parking lot on our campus to ensure that Shade's school buses can bring students to school safely and reliably, no matter the season.

Shade students recently visited the home of a classmate whose mother passed away. They prayed for their friend, gave words of encouragement, and lived out what it means to see the lonely put into families (Psalm 68:6).

Please join us in prayer for this student and their family. ๐Ÿ’™

Our Understanding Albinism events are a cornerstone of our advocacy work. They give us the opportunity to share what albinism is, the challenges faced by those living with it, and how others can support them.

These events also help lift the stigma surrounding albinism by giving participants the chance to ask questions and hear directly from our staff and students with albinism.

This month, our team shared with over 400 students at a nearby secondary school! ๐ŸŽ‰

Welcome to Handwriting Day at Shade School ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ†

Students from preschool to fifth grade competed in a handwriting competition, with each class searching for the student with the best penmanship.

Designed to build better writing skills, increase writing speed, and build confidence, it was a day of fun for everyone!

Every Tuesday, our Shade staff gather for a prayer session and collect an offering.

Recently, they turned that offering into something beautiful: a visit to a nearby hospital, where they delivered gifts to premature babies, pediatric patients, and their families.

26 children were blessed with a little extra joy and love. We're so grateful to have a staff that is so generous, and spreads the love of Christ everywhere they go. ๐Ÿ’™

Our recent parent meeting gave Shade families an opportunity to hear about all of the developments on our campus, academic progress, and plans for the rest of the school year.

We are so grateful for the staff, parents, and caregivers who pour into our students every day!
