This invasion started in Cascade county. It has been in the Belt area for decades but has been on the move. It can live in the soil for years without detection. It is transferred through through material (gravel/dirt), equipment, hay, and more. Not only do producers need to be aware of this and clean drain dry but so does MDOT, County w**d trucks, mowers and road equipment, federal republic garbage trucks, the city of great falls park & rec mowers, Great Falls public works plows, garbage trucks, sewer equipment, ALL utility companies trucks and equipment! If they are detected to the size in the picture, they have been around for several years. If you see something that looks like these but are unsure, please contact your local conservation district or extension agent.
