GRASP GRASP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit located in Great Falls, SC. GRASP is a food bank and offers short term assistance to families and individuals in need.

In 1973, Rebecca Lowry, a local school teacher, started voicing her concerns about the children that were coming to school hungry. It is from her concern and the concern of others that a steering committee was formed to address the needs of the children and their families in Great Falls. There are many citizens in the Great Falls area that are hurting financially due to low income jobs, unemployme

nt, fixed income, high medical bills and high utility bills. GRASP’s mission, for over 40 years, has been to provide immediate assistance to families and individuals in need that live in the area served by the Great Falls schools. Individuals and families with long term needs have been referred out to other programs.

Happy second day of September!!! Once again it's time to share with you all the needs of the Food Pantry. So here are some things we like to keep on hand. Every donation goes right back into the hands of our community. Sometimes it barely touches the shelf before it's back out the door. We are so grateful for any and every donation that comes in.

Thank you Fort Lawn Community Center for filling our freezers today, and Darrin Dockery for always driving the van. It’s a lot of good stuff. Though it won’t last long, we will be handing it out to our clients and I know they are as grateful as we are. It takes a village. No one should ever have to go to bed hungry.

The kids summer snack bags were a huge success and surprise to everyone who received them. Today I am packing the last of the snack bags and the snacks that are left over will still go out to the kids just not as their own special bag. I would like to thank each and everyone who donated to these precious children this summer. I’m so grateful to still be giving them out. There was never a time this summer that we ran out. Hopefully we can do it again next summer. From toddlers to high schoolers all the kids we serve were able to receive these extra treats. What a blessing this has been!
