FOSTER FOUND 💗 He’s now searching for a home!

Charlie is a vibrant German Shepherd pup with a personality as big as his ears! Full of boundless curiosity and an unstoppable spirit, he approaches every new day with an open heart and a wagging tail. He loves exploring, chasing tennis balls, and greeting every human and furry friend he meets with eager affection. Behind all that playful energy is a gentle, devoted soul who just wants to cuddle up close when playtime is over. Charlie has an endless amount of love to give, and he’s looking for an active companion to share every bit of it with.

Charlie’s fosters are leaving town on Thursday, and he MUST find somewhere to go by Wednesday! We urgently need a new foster to step up for this sweet boy.

Charlie is great with dogs! He was fine with cats in his previous foster home, but he isn’t doing well with the cat in his current home. I’d say cat compatibility is a case-by-case situation.

FOSTER FOUND 🙌

Wesley ( ) is a 10-month-old puppy who came incredibly close to losing his life at the shelter when a rescue tag was dropped at the very last minute. We stepped in immediately because death was simply not an acceptable outcome for this sweet boy.

Wesley is an incredibly friendly, affectionate puppy who seems to think everyone he meets should be his new best friend. Shelter volunteers describe him as a total love bug who wants nothing more than to be with people, and apparently he would be perfectly happy spending his days in your lap. He also appears to do well with other dogs.

Like many dogs who have spent time as strays, Wesley is still learning about the leash. He is very uncomfortable when the leash is first introduced and may back away or thrash when he feels tension on it. Once outside in the runs, however, he was happy, wiggly, and playful. He

Wesley is currently in Houston, TX, and we are looking for a foster or adopter who can give this big ol’ baby a loving foster or adoptive home. 🤞

We rescued this guy off an end-of-day euthanasia deadline at a Houston shelter. He had ended up at the shelter as a stray twice. Once we pulled him, we knew there was a serious dog underneath all his silly antics. We sent him straight to our trainer, only to discover that he was fully trained in German, experienced in bite work, and had extensive prior training.

He spent time with two different trainers while in foster care before finding the most perfect family, where he can put his skills to use in hobby sport work.

We are absolutely thrilled for Lycan and his new family, including his new canine sisters! CONGRATS. buddy! ❤️

FOSTER NEEDED 🙏

is a young German Shepherd mix whose owners moved away and simply left her behind. She spent weeks searching for food but never left the spot where her owners had abandoned her.

She was so scared and unsure that she ultimately had to be trapped in order to be rescued. And look at her now. What a beautiful girl who just wants a family that loves her.

Misty is currently safe in Texas boarding and no longer having to fend for herself on the streets, but her boarding is costing us $20 a day, and we urgently need to find her a foster home.

We’re still getting to know Misty and learning more about her personality and what type of home will be the best fit for her. She deserves the chance to finally learn what it feels like to be safe, loved, and wanted.

Duchess is available for adoption! This two-year-old female is located in Martinsburg, WV. She loves walking, cuddling, sunbathing in the chilly autumn air, playing with stuffed animals, and zooming about briefly between long naps. Duchess is good with children, older adults with mobility and balance issues, and other dogs (she does request to be fed separately).

Two dogs saved from end-of-day euthanasia in Houston shelters, now off to their new lives with families who can’t believe anyone could ever discard such remarkable dogs.

is an older gentleman who every single person instantly fell in love with, yet he couldn’t find a foster for weeks on end. He was spared from euthanasia, only to have all of his options fall through week after week. I had all but given up hope that he’d ever find his people…

Then, out of nowhere, a former adopter saw his story and immediately started asking questions. He reminded her of her late SSR dog, and she offered to foster him. I don’t think he’s going anywhere. I think he’s home now! He arrived in Pennsylvania late yesterday evening and settled right into the home he’s been patiently waiting for.

is one of the most perfect dogs we’ve ever come across. He had been sitting in the shelter since July. Someone placed an adoption hold on him, then never showed up. He had officially run out of time when one of our Texas fosters stepped in to get him to safety. A family in Kansas saw him, and even though they weren’t actively looking for a dog, they knew he was the one. He arrived early yesterday morning and has already made friends with his new sister.

I’m a firm believer that we don’t find the dogs, the dogs find us. We heal them so they can heal you. Thank you for supporting our mission and making their dreams come true. 💝

Earlier today, Wesley was scheduled to be euthanized. A rescue had placed a tag on him, but at the very last minute, they dropped it. Had we not acted immediately, while completely unprepared, he would have been euthanized.

We really try to avoid boarding dogs because it’s not good for the dog, and it’s not good for our bank account.

Is there anyone who would consider fostering this puppy? If you click his hashtag, you can see several posts about him. He is an incredibly sweet puppy, but he’s a total wild child on the leash right now, like most strays are.

One thing is certain: death was not an acceptable outcome for him today. He’s just a big ol’ baby! Shelter volunteers said he seems to do well with other dogs, and he’s just a friendly guy who wants to be in your lap at all times.

Please let us know if you can help Wesley. He is currently in Houston, TX, but transport options are available.

The ever-so-gorgeous PonyBoy!

There wasn't much known about PonyBoy when he joined SSR. It took one look at his picture, along with the words “1PM DEADLINE TODAY,” to know he was coming to us. A picture of those soft eyes and his paw in someone's hand, just begging to be spared.

What a great decision it was to save this incredible boy! He is so calm, so friendly, and so loving. He has since said goodbye to Texas and hello to North Carolina, where he is waiting for a family to choose him.

The shelter listed him as 8, but his foster's vet says he is under 2. Only PonyBoy knows his true age. What we do know is that he is an absolute stunner and the most perfect boy.

Please consider adopting him.

I don't see anywhere that he was tested with other dogs, but he has such a calm and easy demeanor that I suspect he will do just fine with others.

Please consider adopting Zoey đź’—

is a 5-month-old puppy who was part of the rescue mission. She was living at a dumpsite in South Texas with seven other puppies, and she was one of the lucky five we were able to catch and get to safety.

Zoey is now looking for a family of her own! She’s a happy, playful, and loving puppy who is smart and eager to learn. She already knows sit and lay down, is crate trained, and is doing great with potty training.

Zoey loves children and other dogs, and she would do well with another playful dog or an active family who can keep her busy with adventures, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. We don’t know how she is with cats yet.

After the rough start she had, Zoey deserves a family who will love her and give her the life every puppy should have.
