Last weekend, Helping Hands experienced a record-breaking day, serving 526 people in a single day.

While we’re grateful to be here for our neighbors, this number is also a reminder that the need in our community remains significant. With school now out for the summer, many families lose access to the breakfasts and lunches their children receive during the school year. For households already stretching every dollar, summer can mean even greater food insecurity.

Because of your generosity, we’re able to provide more than food. We offer a welcoming place, compassionate volunteers, and the assurance that no one has to face hard times alone.

Every can donated, every dollar given, every volunteer hour, and every prayer helps us meet our neighbors with dignity, hope, and hospitality.

Thank you for helping us make sure our community’s children, seniors, and families have food on their tables this summer.

Together, we’re providing a hand up, not just a handout.

Help needed!

As we face the summer months, we could REALLY use some help with our deliveries from the Great Falls Food Bank!

It’s a once a month gig for about 2 hours. Job involves some lifting and moving around of cases of food. We get a delivery every Friday at 9:30 am (you can do more than once a month if you’d like!) and the job just involves bringing the food down the elevator to the shelves. It’s not complicated, but SO important to have reliable helpers for our busy food pantry.

Please help if you can—training provided! Help us make a difference.

As the weather warms up, we get excited about spending more time in the great outdoors. For our unhoused neighbors, however, there can be challenges to being constantly outside in the heat.

During weeks where the temps are high, Helping Hands works with the Great Falls Public Library to have a cooler with cold bottled water available to our neighbors.

If you are available to take a week this summer, or even sponsor us for a few cases of water, it would be much appreciated by those out in the hot sun.

Volunteers who are willing to take a week and bring water and ice to the library are especially appreciated!

At Helping Hands, we are seeing more neighbors coming through our doors worried about how they’ll feed their families after recent government funding and cuts create uncertainty and hardship for many already living paycheck to paycheck.

But we’ve also seen something beautiful:

neighbors helping neighbors.

At Helping Hands, we believe everyone deserves food, dignity, compassion, and hope. Every bag of groceries shared is a reminder that no one should have to face hard times alone.

This week at Helping Hands, we’re walking alongside a guest as they work toward a more stable future — helping them get to appointments for housing, mental health care, and other vital benefits.

At the same time, we continue feeding hundreds of neighbors each week with the help of this amazing community. We recognize that accompaniment is important work, but it pales when compared to the work many of our guests are engaged in—guests who may have already carried more burdens that some could even imagine.

We believe in offering not just a hand out, but a hand up — meeting people with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Thank you for helping us provide gospel hospitality and to love our neighbors well. Every meal, every step alongside someone walking a difficult path, every kind word matters more than you know.

If anyone should tell you that this work is futile, or that people choose this kind of lifestyle—tell them to talk to a Helping Hands board member or volunteer. We have so many stories of miracles happening and lives being, very literally, saved.

And pray they can find some hope, too.

We celebrated another extraordinary weekend at Helping Hands last week, serving 460 individuals and sharing a fun (but chilly) neighborhood cookout! We're thrilled to announce that tomorrow, we'll be supporting one of our guests in securing vital services to enhance her life and take significant strides towards stable housing. Next weekend, we'll continue our mission, unwavering in our commitment, rain or shine!
