Special thanks to Ryan Rich from Modern Machinery for stopping by to announce a major gift from the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation in conjunction with Modern Machinery for the $250k Cottage Refresh Project on our 10-acre campus. They teamed up to help Student Life Director Jim Kelly fulfill his retirement dream to make the Cottages feel more like a home away from home for Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind campus. Jim has worked here since the Cottages opened in 1983, and they have not been updated since that time.

We had a very special visit yesterday. The 2026 Miss Rodeo Montana, Bentley, stopped by with former Miss Rodeo Montanas Alli Allen and Bella Jensen for a campus tour and left tickets for our students and staff to attend the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals Rodeo in Great Falls this weekend.

Bentley’s heart for the Deaf community shines through her work as an interpreter, her ASL skills, and her genuine kindness.

We’re so excited to see what unfolds from this connection. Thank you to our ASL Mentor, Jenn St. Pierre, for the tour. Fun fact: Bentley is a former para educator here, making this a full-circle moment.
