Thursday Morning Club of Great Barrington Organized on March 15, 1892 by 19 ladies the Club now has over 100 members. The object of the Club is educational, civic and charitable.

Not only is our May luncheon our farewell till September, but it gives us time to reflect on our achievements this year. We awarded over 20 scholarships to seniors at Monument Mountain and Mount Everett high schools, hosted 2 Music Bingo fundraisers for scholarships, had many interesting guests at our meetings, welcomed several new members, provided gift cards for Veterans and Elizabeth Freeman Center and supported numerous local services. Our members are a wonderful group of women from all walks of life who give of themselves to help others.

What a fun-filled spring gathering! Following a brief business meeting, Linda Lavoie introduced new member Jody Burkle who was welcomed by the members attending. April is our annual Ice Cream Social featuring Kay Poliak’s famous sauces. Delicious desserts for lunch was followed by a bit of movement and stretches to work off a few calories with Suzanne Mazzarelli of Be Well Community Yoga.

Members at our March meeting celebrated 33-year member and treasured Chaplain Jeanne DuVall on her 96th birthday! Our hostesses set a beautiful bountiful St. Patrick’s Day luncheon table. Thursday Morning Club is much more than monthly luncheons. Founded in 1892, we are a community-minded organization supporting local health, children, community, veterans and emergency organizations and awarding scholarships to Monument Mountain and Mount Everett seniors.

Our members welcomed the new year with a wonderful January luncheon thanks to our dedicated hostess team. Guest Bob Krol, Executive Director of the Great Barrington Historical Society, took us on a stroll down Memory Lane sharing some memorabilia of decades past. He invited everyone to stop by the historical Truman Wheeler House to view all the exhibits.

Our monthly gatherings are always special. December’s was no exception. Members and guests enjoyed a bountiful holiday luncheon followed by entertainment by the Eagles Band Brass Ensemble. Conductor Deanna Fraher led us through a journey of carols and songs celebrating the first Christmas in Bethlehem to modern-day favorites encouraging everyone to sing-along.
