Ms. Marisol's garden goodbye- Funny how life is sometimes. We planted seeds in the spring and expected a normal growth year. But this year was far from normal in our weather. So, the garden was left to die for a season. We just let it be. No retilling, nor clearing...everything was left as it was after planting.
Here we are at the last of the year...and days before my family and I depart from our community, project, and people we love. And do you know what I discovered yesterday in my garden? VEGETABLES FINALLY GROWING! Sure as day! I pulled a carrot, laughed at the onions, and was left totally amazed at yet another lesson learned: We can plant the seeds and do everything right, but there is only one who knows the time when they will grow...even if it is not on our time!

I bet if you go into the Gravette Gardens today and walk around the top garden, you too will discover the root crops growing.

Thank you for your support of this project and continued support for the incoming Project Coordinator and Board of Directors. May your 2012 be prosperous!

~Marisol Jackson

The Gravette Gardens is resting from this crazy year for the winter. The Board of Directors will be pleased to introduce you to the new Project Coordinator beginning in 2012. Ms. Marisol and family will be moving out of state the end of this year. I truly am grateful for the progress and community that came together these past 3 years to make the garden a success. We love you Gravette and will miss you dearly! God bless you this holiday season!

And now the rain comes....

08/20/2011

I have been waiting and waiting for the vegetables to grow, but this weather has challenged every good gardener. The drought has killed off our vegetable crops. Thank you everyone for your efforts this year.

07/14/2011

Despite the heat, we harvested 25 cabbages, squash, bell peppers, tomatos, lettuce, and a crate of broccoli for today's food pantry. Again, grateful for the splash of rain.

07/04/2011

Thank you God for the rain for the garden today! There will be greater harvest this week.

07/01/2011

Todays harvest has yielded zucchini, cherry tomatos, and a bell pepper. We are about through with the broccoli. Next week we will have cabbage to add to the pantries.

Gravette gardens is in need of a riding mower! Does anyone have a contact for a donation. Until we can get another mower, is there anyone who would like to volunteer mowing the lawn regularly?

06/04/2011

Town and Country 4-H will be working in the garden today from 10:30-12:30 today

06/01/2011

We are in need of volunteers to mow. If you have free time and a mower, we need you!
