Join us for multiday animal processing workshop with Johnny O’Mara at Sage Acres in Nevada City, CA. Participate in an animal harvest; learn how to butcher and use every part of the animal. This workshop is for farm and ranch workers and other individuals interested in strengthening their relationship with the food they eat.

Johnny O'Mara is a goatherd and land steward based in Mendocino county California. Johnny has been working at the intersections of food sovereignty, targeted grazing, rangeland stewardship, animal processing, hide tanning, and pastoralism. Johnny tends a small flock of dairy goats (about 30 strong) and has been teaching animal harvesting classes for 7 years. Johnny is passionate about using the entire animal, studying cultural uses of ruminants across the globe, and creating access to knowledge that empowers food sovereignty. Johnny believes that skills are tools, perspectives on life, that cannot be unlearned, and to take one of his classes is to embark on the responsibility of knowledge.

U-Pick is TONIGHT at Food Love Farm! Pick your own fruits, veggies, and flowers on Tuesday evenings from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at 16200 Lake Vera Purdon Rd. in Nevada City.

What's available on the farm? Kale, chard, turnips, basil, green beans, squash, garlic, potatoes, flowers, raspberries, blackberries, cucumbers, and more!

Food Love Farm U-Pick operates entirely on voluntary contributions. We welcome a voluntary donation of $5 per basket to help cover the cost of our seeds and labor, but any amount is gratefully accepted. Donations accepted via cash, card, or check. Ask Sierra (pictured above) about the Market Match program that we provide in partnership with Nevada County!
