Join us for a Fall Flower Farming Workshop with Bread & Roses Farm on Saturday, November 7 from 1:00 to 3:00PM! This class will cover fall flower farm tasks such as propagation, planting fall flowers for spring in the field and greenhouse, and dahlia tuber storage/splitting. See you there!

Bread and Roses Farm is a local, cooperatively owned farm, run by owners Katie, Ren, and Abby. Their farm currently provides cut flowers and bouquets to local markets, as well as a seasonal flower share in partnership with Mountain Bounty Farm.

In TWO WEEKS on Wednesday, October 21, we are hosting an On-Farm Composting Ag Skills workshop with Catalyst BioAmendments at Bluebird Farm.

In this workshop, we will use food waste as a primary input and learn the nitrogen-to-carbon ratios that create an efficient compost pile. We will also cover spray and injection compost applications with examples and hands-on activities during the workshop. Ag Skills tickets can be purchased for $5 at the link below.

In two weeks we are hosting a week-long Food Love Farm kids camp! During the school fall-break period, we will be opening the educational farm for children to experience the abundance of the harvest season. This camp will have all the charm of our summer camp with some seasonal variation and fall themes. We are excited to share Food Love Farm with our camp cohort during this enchanting autumnal season. Tomorrow is our LAST U-Pick of the season at Food Love Farm!

Tuesday, September 29th will be our last official U-Pick at Food Love Farm as we gear up for our Fall kids camp!

Available produce at the farm includes:
Chard, squash, yard long green beans, cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, mustard greens, ground cherries, basil, holy basil, and flowers.

Food Love Farm U-Pick operates entirely on voluntary contributions. We welcome a voluntary donation of $5 per basket to help cover the cost of our seeds and labor, but any amount is gratefully accepted. Donations accepted via cash, card, or check. Ask Sierra (our lovely engagement manager located at the entry gate) about the Market Match program that we provide in partnership with Nevada County!

We are hosting a Grant Writing Work-and-Learn for Farmers! This event is for production farmers & ranchers.

Date: Wednesday, September 30th
Time: 5:00 - 8:00 PM
Location: Nevada City, CA - address provided upon registration
Registration: $5 to reserve your spot (registration link below!) limited spots available

Farmers will learn:
🍅How to review a grant opportunity for fit
🍅Information, paperwork, and business plans and systems needed to apply for most grants
🍅What grant reviewers are looking for in an application

Optional co-working session after the presentation:
🥕Q&A
🥕Work on a grant application with a grant coach
🥕Receive help putting together your farm business plan, mission/vision statement, etc.
