KL Memorial Scholarship Fund

KL Memorial Scholarship Fund A Scholarship program to empower deserving women to change the path in their life. It all started with Kathee Livengood.

As a successful Realtor, her passion for helping people helped raise thousands of dollars to assist the community through her involvement in local organizations. When she passed away in May, 2012, the KL Foundation was formed to keep her legacy alive through scholarships to women in the Gatehouse or Grace Programs. Through these grants, women coming out of crisis situations are able to further th

eir education by attending a trade school, vocational school or local college. These job skills allow them to redirect their lives and provide a better future for their family. The Kathee Livengood Memorial Scholarship program is part of the Grapevine United Charities, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for your charitable contribution.

Our Story

Kathee Livengood was a successful Realtor but found the time to belong to, or support, almost every civic organization and “cause” in Grapevine. She was known as the Beer Diva for supervising the Chamber beer booths and she was the expert everyone went to for help with auctions. She worked at every Main Street Days Festival and every GrapeFest until her death. Over the years her passion for helping people was instrumental in raising thousands of dollars to assist the elderly and children through GRACE and the Women’s Division, people injured and disabled through the Joey Wilkins Foundation and anyone who was touched by cancer by founding the Relay for Life event in Grapevine.

We lost Kathee, Grapevine’s #1 volunteer, in May of 2012 and several of her friends wanted to find a special way to honor her. She had no children and no close relatives to help preserve her legacy with a scholarship. We wanted it to be different from the usual good grades, financial need type for college students.

It was our final decision to do something to provide financial assistance to women that needed assistance to attend a trade or vocational school or further their education to redirect their lives and provide a better future for them and their children. The Kathee Livengood Memorial Scholarship program is an integral part of the Grapevine Chamber Foundation which is a charitable organization recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for your charitable contribution. The committee is composed of Clydene Johnson, Chairman, Darlene Freed, Duff O’Dell, Kathrine Brink, and Janice Kane.
