At SIPA, we believe awareness is the first step to care. If you have an elder in your life showing signs of memory loss, you're not alone — and it's not something to face quietly. Let's talk about it, learn together, and support each other as a community.

What a day! Thank you, Grapevine!

On Saturday, SIPA hosted our Juneteenth Celebration & Community Watch Party at Chicken N Pickle – and it was unforgettable.

We came together to:
✅ Celebrate freedom and resilience
✅ Cheer on the DR Congo Leopards together on the big screen
✅ Connect with community over private pickleball, free appetizers, and great vibes

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, wore their DR Congo colors, and made this day special. Special shoutout to chickennpicklegptx for hosting us and to our community for showing up with so much pride and joy.

🌍 Africa is showing up at the World Cup!

Six African teams have made it to the knockout stage – the continent's strongest performance ever.

· Morocco 🇲🇦
· South Africa 🇿🇦 (first-time knockout!)
· Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮
· Egypt 🇪🇬
· Cabo Verde 🇨🇻 (debutants!)
· Ghana 🇬🇭

Algeria 🇩🇿 and DR Congo 🇨🇩 are still fighting for their spot.

A reminder that freedom did not reach everyone on the same day. A reminder that resilience is part of our DNA.

SIPA stands with Black communities – African American and African immigrant alike – in honoring this day of liberation.

June 19, 1865. Galveston, Texas. Freedom finally came.

Let us celebrate. Let us reflect. Let us keep pushing forward.
