👉 Our Links: https://linktr.ee/dfwpugrescue Mission Statement: DFW Pug Rescue Club, Inc. was formed for the purpose of providing rescue, care and adoption of unwanted, mistreated or homeless pugs. DFW Pug Rescue Club was founded in early 1996 and incorporated in July 1997 as a charitable, non-profit corporation. We are one of the l

argest pug rescue organizations in the United States having rescued and placed over 8,500 pugs. Veterinary care is our biggest expense averaging $220,000 a year. All pugs rescued are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested and treated for parasites, infections, vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped before being placed in a foster or permanent home. DFWPRC is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization — there are no paid positions. We do not have a staging area to hold our rescue pugs. We depend on the generosity of our volunteers to provide foster homes until permanent homes can be located. You can help to promote our mission and be a part of this exciting volunteer opportunity. Please visit our website and social media sites for information on DFW Pug Rescue. We rescue pugs in Texas, Louisiana, and parts of New Mexico since there are no pug rescues in those other areas!

1-year-old Bark Vader is a playful boy with a loving heart and serious Velcro-pug credentials. This sweet young pup wants to be wherever his people are and is happiest carrying around a toy—squeaky, soft, chewy…he loves them all!

Bark Vader is house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on leash, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children of all ages—even babies. He enjoys playing with furry friends but would also thrive as the center of attention in a home where someone is around often to keep a steady routine, praise his good training and keep him active.

At mealtime, Bark Vader can get a pretty enthusiastic about snacks and may try to sample everyone else’s bowl, so supervised feeding helps him stay on his best behavior.

Looking for a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts cuddly and goofy? Bark Vader is ready to join your galaxy!

7-year-old Bingo is an active boy with a gentle heart who loves being close to his people, spending time outside, and chewing on bully sticks, bones, and soft toys.

Bingo is house-trained, crate-trained, walks beautifully on leash, and sleeps happily in his dog bed or playpen. He gets along well with other dogs, though he’d do best with smaller or similarly sized canine companions. Bingo would also be happy as an only pug soaking up all the attention. Because he can be protective of his food and favorite treats, he’d thrive in a home with children ages 8 and up who can respect his space at mealtime.

With big personality, big heart, and big cuddles—Bingo is ready to be your perfect sidekick!

🚨☀️Summer heat and pugs can be a dangerous combination. Please read & share.

We recently took in two heat exhausted pugs, and it’s a reminder that hot weather can turn serious very quickly for flat-faced breeds.

Pugs don’t cool themselves efficiently, which means things like a mid-day walk, hot pavement, or being left outside “just for a little while” can become dangerous faster than many people realize.

As temperatures rise, here are a few ways to help keep your pug safe this summer:

☀️ Walk early or late.
Sunrise and evening are safest. Mid-day and afternoon heat can be dangerous, even for short outings. On especially hot days, quick potty breaks + indoor enrichment may be the better choice.

🔥 Air temp is not equal to pavement temp.
The weather app doesn’t tell the whole story. Pavement can be dramatically hotter than the air, burning paws and adding extra heat stress. Before every walk, try the 7-second test: if it’s too hot for your hand or bare foot, it’s too hot for theirs.

💧 Keep water available + encourage cooling breaks.
Bring water on walks, offer frequent breaks, and don’t wait until your pug seems exhausted to cool down. Shade, fans, and air conditioning are your friends in the summer months.

🏡 Don’t leave pugs outside too long.
Even with shade and water, pugs are especially vulnerable in extreme heat. Outdoor time should be supervised and limited when temperatures climb.

🚨 Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion:
Excessive panting • heavy drooling • lethargy • weakness or wobbling • vomiting • glazed eyes • bright red gums/tongue • collapse

If your pug is overheating:**
Move them into shade or AC immediately, wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water on their neck, stomach, armpits, and groin, increase airflow with a fan, offer small sips of cool water, and contact a vet as soon as possible.

Summer heat is serious for these squishy faces. Please help us spread the word and keep pugs safe this season. ❤️🐾

3-month-old Ava is a spunky little chug with a big personality packed into a tiny body! This adventurous girl loves zooming around with her signature “butt tuck” runs, playing hard, and soaking up all the attention she can get.

Ava is curious, playful, and always ready for her next tiny adventure. She’s a sweet, affectionate puppy who enjoys being near her people and would thrive in a home ready for all the fun (and silliness!) that comes with puppyhood.

Ava would do great with a family excited to continue her training, socialization, and cuddle schedule.
