Glad to see students and staff heading back safely.

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will reopen and follow a regular schedule on Thursday, January 29, 2026. GCISD facilities crews have been hard at work over the past few days preparing our buildings to welcome our staff and students safely by spreading deicer on sidewalks and in parking lots.

While the above freezing temperatures and sunshine over the last few days have helped clear our roadways, we still encourage everyone to exercise caution and allow additional time to travel to work and school. When arriving on campus, please avoid walking on shaded areas.

Bus rider families are encouraged to sign up for Transportation Services’ SMART Tag Parent Portal, where parents can be notified when their child’s bus is nearing the stop.

As a reminder, GCISD’s 2025-2026 instructional calendar has a sufficient number of minutes to cover this weather-related closure and the amount of instructional time missed will not have to be made up.

We look forward to seeing our staff and students back at school tomorrow!

Highway closure update from Grapevine PD 🚨
Icy conditions are causing serious issues this morning — please use caution and delay travel if possible.

HIGHWAY CLOSURE
Our officers responded to an 18-wheeler crash near the 1700 Block of W 114 EB.
Due to the icy conditions, the vehicle lost control and struck the barrier. While officers were on scene, a second tractor-trailer crashed behind them. Fortunately, there are no injuries to report.

This has resulted in the full shutdown of the highway. Traffic is being diverted from W SH-114 EB to SH-121 SB and SH-360 SB.
TXODT has been notified and trucks are en route.
The highway is expected to be closed for at least 2 hours.

** Our officers tell us the roads are much worse overnight and this morning than they have been so far. We urge the public to wait until the sun comes up to melt some the residual ice, before getting on the roads. **

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will remain closed Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to continued winter weather conditions, impacting travel across North Texas. All facilities will be closed and any scheduled practices and activities are canceled. While sunshine is forecasted, temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing until Tuesday afternoon.

At this time, we plan to open on a normal schedule Wednesday, January 28, and look forward to seeing our staff and students!
