☀️ Texas summers regularly bring temperatures well above 90°F, and that means the inside of a parked car can become dangerously hot in just minutes. 🔥 Even with the windows cracked, temperatures can quickly climb, putting pets at serious risk of heatstroke.

If you're running errands, leave your furry family members safely at home where they can stay cool and comfortable. They'll be much happier napping in the A/C than waiting in a hot car.

🇺🇸 The Fourth of July may be over, but you can still help freedom ring all month long. Across North Texas, shelters remain overcrowded, and so many deserving dogs are still waiting for their chance at freedom. The Happy Pet Project is ready to help, but we can't say "yes" without foster homes.
When you foster, you're giving a shelter dog the ultimate freedom ride: from a kennel to a safe, loving home where they can decompress, heal, and prepare for adoption.

The sweetest news to brighten your day... 💙 Roo is ADOPTED! 🥹🎉

Just a few short weeks ago, Roo came to The Happy Pet Project in need of medical care, a safe place to land, and a second chance. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, she received her spay surgery, treatment for a UTI, and all the love she needed from her incredible foster family (including a special GOTCHA DAY treat beforehand🥹).

Now, those unforgettable blue "Elsa" eyes are looking up at the family she'll love forever.

Roo's story is exactly what our Second Chance Summer campaign is all about. Every donation and every foster home helps turn uncertain futures into happy endings.

Microchips are permanent, your contact information might not be! A microchip is one of the best tools we have to help lost pets find their way home—but there’s one
important catch: it only works if your information is up to date.

Microchips provide permanent identification that stays with your pet for life—but the contact details linked to that chip can quickly become outdated if they’re not checked regularly.

When a pet is found, shelters and veterinary teams rely on that information to reach you. But one of the most common reasons pets aren’t reunited with their families is missing or outdated microchip
information.

Take a moment to review your pet’s info:
✔️ Confirm which registry your pet’s chip is linked to (visit petmicrochiplookup.org)
✔️ Check that your address is current
✔️ Update your phone number
✔️ Review your emergency contact
✔️ Update info after adopting or rehoming a pet

Quick reminder:
• A microchip is not a GPS—it doesn’t track your pet
• Collars and tags can fall off—but a microchip stays with them for life
• Using both together gives your pet the best chance of being reunited with you
It only takes a few minutes to check—but it could make all the difference.
