Microchips are permanent, your contact information might not be! A microchip is one of the best tools we have to help lost pets find their way home—but there’s one
important catch: it only works if your information is up to date.

Microchips provide permanent identification that stays with your pet for life—but the contact details linked to that chip can quickly become outdated if they’re not checked regularly.

When a pet is found, shelters and veterinary teams rely on that information to reach you. But one of the most common reasons pets aren’t reunited with their families is missing or outdated microchip
information.

Take a moment to review your pet’s info:
✔️ Confirm which registry your pet’s chip is linked to (visit petmicrochiplookup.org)
✔️ Check that your address is current
✔️ Update your phone number
✔️ Review your emergency contact
✔️ Update info after adopting or rehoming a pet

Quick reminder:
• A microchip is not a GPS—it doesn’t track your pet
• Collars and tags can fall off—but a microchip stays with them for life
• Using both together gives your pet the best chance of being reunited with you

We are so happy to announce that our Dessert Litter have each found their HAPPY homes and forever families!! 🎉 THANK YOU ALL for your support! Because of you, our Dessert litter has everything they need to grow, thrive, and step into the bright futures they deserve.

What started as a difficult beginning has turned into something truly beautiful—full of love, care, and community.

Cupcake, Cream Puff, Brownie, Tiramisu, and Macaroon are proof that even the smallest lives can have the sweetest start.

And while their momma couldn’t be here to raise them, her babies are surrounded by love every single day—and we carry her with us in the way we care for them.

Think dehydration is just a hot day outside problem? Think again. 🐶💧
Hydration is something our pets need to maintain year-round, inside and outside—not just during the summer months.

Healthy pets often regulate their own water intake, but certain situations increase their risk, including exercise, heat, and even age changes.

Here are a few easy ways to help:
✨ Refresh water bowls frequently with clean, cool water
✨ Offer multiple drinking spots throughout your home
✨ Offer hydrating treats like watermelon (without seeds/rind) or cucumber slices
✨ Make it fun with ice cubes or frozen treats

And don’t forget—active dogs need even more hydration, especially after playtime or walks.

When Roo joined The Happy Pet Project, she needed more than just a safe place to land. She received treatment for a UTI, was spayed, and found the love and support of a wonderful foster family.

Today, Roo is recovering from her spay, happy, and ready to find her forever home.

This petite scruffy girl is full of joy, curiosity, and affection. She loves playtime, learns quickly, and is happiest when she’s with her people. Add in those unforgettable blue eyes, and it’s impossible not to fall in love.

Meet Fern. At 8 years old and just 13 pounds, this sweet senior is looking for a foster home where she can rest, heal, and be reminded just how loved she is.

Fern does have a few senior medical needs, but you won't be doing it alone. Our medical and foster teams provide the guidance, supplies, and support needed every step of the way.

A fulfilled dog isn’t always a walked dog. Sometimes, just 15 minutes of sniffing or problem-solving can be more exhausting than a 30-minute walk.

At The Happy Pet Project, we love reminding pet parents that enrichment isn’t just about physical activity—it’s about giving our dogs a chance to think, explore, and engage their natural instincts.

☀️ As we head into the hotter months, outdoor time may need to be shorter or more limited—but that doesn’t mean enrichment has to take a back seat! Here are some easy ways to keep your pup mentally stimulated while staying cool:

🧠 Mental Enrichment
• Food puzzles and treat-dispensing toys
• Snuffle mats for scent-based foraging
• Short training sessions to learn (or refresh) skills

👃 Scent & Exploration
• Hide-and-seek with toys or treats
• Let them “hunt” for snacks around the house
• Create simple scent games using pet-safe items

Snip Snip Hooray, ROO got her spay TODAY! Every dog who joins The Happy Pet Project deserves the chance to begin their next chapter healthy, safe, and loved.

Before adoption, each Happy Pet receives the medical care they need, including vaccines, preventatives, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, and treatment for more complex conditions like heartworm disease, mange, chronic infections, and other medical challenges.

No two journeys are the same. Some dogs need only routine care. Others require weeks or months of treatment before they're ready to find their forever family. This is the care every dog deserves, but it comes at a cost.

As we celebrate Happy Pet's Second Chance Summer, we're asking our community to help strengthen our Medical Fund so we can continue saying "yes" to dogs in need and be prepared when unexpected medical emergencies arise.

Can you donate today? Your gift helps provide vaccines, preventative care, medical treatments, follow up appointments, and the support our dogs need to become the healthiest versions of themselves before heading home.
