Hi Ladies,

This week we will be talking about forgiveness. As survivors sometimes we don’t only have to work on forgiving our perpetrators, we have to forgive ourselves. Forgiveness can be a huge part of healing.

Some things to think about before the meeting:
Have you forgiven yourself? Why or why not?
If so do you have any resources you’d like to share that helped you? Have you chosen to forgive your abuser?
If so, would you like to share why and how you did it?

Helpful reminders when it comes to forgiving your abuser:
- Forgiving someone does not condone their actions.
- Forgiving is not the same as forgetting.
- Forgiving is a process. It’s okay if it doesn’t happen overnight.
- Forgiving someone else is 100% for you, not the other person.

The meeting will begin at 8 PM Central on Zoom. The Zoom link and password will be listed in the comments of the Meetup event about 15 minutes before the meeting begins.

This is a Victim Impact Statement letter and caption from a brave survivor in Maryland.

“Although I read this statement in court, the judge ruled in favor of the defendant. The Prince Georges County State's Attorney's Office needs to take accountability for the administrative mystery that remains. Sexual assault survivors deserve to be heard and have justice.”

This week Heal The Cause will be holding our first self-care game night!

We will begin our meeting in our usual fashion and would like to check in with all members (new and current) incase there is anything anyone would like to share or talk about this week. There is no time limit on this, if the discussion takes up the entire meeting time that is ok too! We can always do game night another time. :)

For game night, we will be using Jackbox games. Members may use their phone or tablet as the controller. The main action of the game happens on your Zoom Screen but players use their own mobile devices to input answers and make choices. You do not need to purchase the game to play as Angel has a copy that she will be streaming it for us! We will also talk everyone through this. All you need to do is come into the Zoom meeting at the regular time and we will help everyone with the rest.

The meeting will begin at 8 PM Central on Zoom. The Zoom link and password will be listed right here and also below in the comments about 15 minutes before the meeting begins.

Hope to see you there! :)

Tonight! Free virtual event focused on ending the silencing of survivors of sexual violence. This event is created to raise awareness to the EMU lawsuit and the countless survivors who were silenced time after time again. You do not need to be an EMU student to attend or speak at this event. If you are interested in speaking, please email [email protected]. You may choose to speak anonymously if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Please email [email protected] or message Angel Campbell or Alexus Krupp with any questions.
