Ohio produced more than 251 MILLION BARRELS of oil from 2010 to 2023.

251 million barrels of oil can generate enough electricity to power over 1.6 million homes, produce enough gasoline to drive a mediumsized car (17mpg) over 70 billion miles, or be used to make over 42 billion birthday candles, or over 6 billion crayons!

As summer break comes to an end for students around the state, here's a reminder that teachers never stop learning!

In June, 31 Ohio teachers joined our annual STEM professional development workshop. The first day was filled with learning new curriculum and hands-on lessons, met with a second day of real life application. Participants heard from industry professionals as they toured a power plant, an active horizontal drilling rig, and the historical Thorla McKee well.

Fun couple of days at Bishop Hartley High School!

We kicked off with a quick presentation on career opportunities in the oil and gas industry, then jumped into interactive stations! Students made their own lip balm, explored energy careers, tackled a pipeline challenge, and got a hands-on look at real industry materials like drill bits, fracking sand, and oil samples.

On Monday, we had a full class of 40+ for a GOSAFER Workshop at Salt Fork State Park!

All of the participants were part of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Orphan and Abandon Well Plugging Program. Those in attendance ranged from inspectors and geologists to environmental and health safety engineers.

We provided information regarding safety topics like hazard recognition, safety data sheet, lockout and tag out procedures, and Emergency Response Guidebook review.
