The recently passed HB1216 is known as the “hot car bill,” but it contains important protections for people with service dogs. Service dogs are now protected against unprovoked attacks by other dogs. The bill also makes it a summary offense for businesses to refuse access to a person with a service dog. Thank you to Governor Tom Wolf for signing the bill, and thank you to Rep. Frank Farry and Rep. Dom Costa for sponsoring the bill!

Registration for Summer Dog Camp opens on April 2 at 6 pm! All the details and information about preparing for registration day are available on the website: https://www.keystonehumanservices.org/susquehanna-service-dogs/summer-camp.php

Campers ages 10-14 spend a week working with a future service dog, learning basic dog care, clicker training, and a variety of cues. Most importantly, they learn how a service dog assists a person with a disability to become more independent.

Tomorrow is my first day of school! My backpack is filled up with treats and I'm ready to go! Remember if you see me and my raiser on campus do not distract me! I'm working very hard so one day I'll become a good service dog for someone! Here are some basic rules for when you see me or any other service dog on campus: 1. speak to my raiser first instead of me, it's better to talk to her than to distract me from my job 2. do not pet me without asking my raiser for permission, this can be very distracting to me 3. do not offer me food without asking my raiser first, sometimes people food gives us dogs upset bellies 4. do not assume just because I'm laying down or napping that it's okay to touch me, I'm still working very hard, 5. do not stare at me, when you stare at me it can make me very uncomfortable and distract me from my job

Remember it's okay to ask questions about my training, my raiser is happy to answer any questions you may have! Hope everyone has a great first day back at school!
