🔥 Spring Fire Season Begins Sunday, March 1

The 5:00 P.M. Burning Law is back in effect across West Virginia.

From March 1 through May 31, outdoor burning is permitted only between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M.

Before you light anything, remember:
✔ No burning from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
✔ Fires must be attended at all times
✔ Clear at least 10 feet down to mineral soil around the burn area
✔ If your fire escapes, you are responsible for the cost and any damages

🚫 You may ONLY burn natural vegetation.
That means leaves, brush, and untreated wood.
You may NOT burn:

• Household trash
• Furniture
• Construction debris
• Plastics
• Tires
• Any other man-made materials

Burning trash and synthetic materials is illegal and dangerous.

Let’s protect our communities, our forests, and our firefighters this spring.

There has been several people ask if the fire department had smoke detectors to give out. So I reached out to the American Red Cross to see if they had smoke detectors that they was able to donate to us to give out. But when I called them I found out that if u call them. One of extension they have is for a free smoke detector installation. Hope this will help everyone.

The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department is happy to say we have gotten a new to us trk. This truck will be a really nice asset to our community. More pictures to come once we get it lettered and ready to be put into service.

The trucks are chained and everything is ready for this winter weather heading our way. I also want to take a minute to thank all guys and ladies that make up our fire department they have been working hard not only making sure the trucks are ready to go. But also getting everything in place and making sure we have people covering shift at the fire house. For a warming station for anyone who may need it. Everyone has done a great job. Thank you I truly appreciate all yall have done. Wish I was home to be able help with all this. But everyone stay safe.
