Pamlico County Heritage Center The center ensures the preservation of local history and its people whose lives were molded by rich soils, abundant forests, and numerous waterways.

The Pamlico County Historical Association & Museum preserves the history of our county and communities, centered around the themes of farming, fishing, and forestry. The Heritage Center encompasses a museum, visitor center, and heritage village centered around the themes of farming, fishing, and forestry, which are the three economic bases of Pamlico County.

Please join us on Monday June 29, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Pamlico County Historical Association & Museum for our June Snapshot meeting featuring presenter Lou Walker from the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Walker will explain the function and goals of the DAR society and discuss some of the notable patriots from Eastern NC.

Mrs. Walker has been a member of the DAR for 20 years, having served as a Chapter and State Registrar. She has assisted with more than 100 ladies joining the DAR and is a retired Commander from the United State Navy with several memberships in various lineage societies.

Dive into the Depths of Pirate History! Join author and pirate expert, Robert Jacob, for a captivating presentation on the pirate career of Blackbeard, the world’s most famous pirate. He will reveal the political rivalry between two colonial governors that led to Blackbeard’s death and the legal entanglements that took place afterwards. He will also delve into the alternative theory that Blackbeard’s father was actually a landowner in Pamlico County.

Jacob’s new award-winning book, Blackbeard: The Truth Revealed, provides many previously unknown facts and details about Blackbeard’s life. A book signing will follow the presentation.

February Snapshot & Annual Business Meeting

Please join us on February 23, 2026 at 7:00PM at the Pamlico County Historical Association & Museum for our February Snapshot meeting and Annual Business meeting.

During our annual business meeting we will discuss the current status of the Association & Museum and conduct our required board and officer elections.

Mr. Adrian Gaskins (retired NC Cooperative Extension Agent & Interim 4-H Museum Curator) will also join us to discuss the history of North Carolina 4-H and efforts by volunteers to preserve its legacy through the NC 4-H History & Learning Center.
