🐾Pets of the week Moose & Avery 🐾

🧡 Moose's Story
Moose is such a sweet boy! He weighs about 64 very dense pounds and is just under 2 years old. He is very smart, and knows sit, shake and lay down. He likes treats, really likes toys and to play tug with ropes. He has done well meeting dogs here and wants to play with just about everyone, as long as they're respectful. He doesn't always get along with bossy, dominant dogs. He pulls on leash but has shown progress in that department by using a front clip harness. He loves to go on adventures and exploring. An active family would be great for him! If he sounds like a good fit, give Moose a chance!
He's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. He is $185 to bring home! Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee if you say you saw him here.

🧡 Meet Avery
Hi, I'm Avery! I'm a boy who is about 4 years old. I'm very sweet and friendly. I like to give gentle chirps to talk to you. I love pets and will lean in for more. I love people, but I'm not a huge fan of other cats. I'd thrive as the only cat in my home!
I am fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. It is $95 to adopt me.

Love never grows old, and this October may be the perfect time to open your home to a senior pet!

As part of the initiative, Southern Oregon Subaru is providing our shelter with direct funding, through a grant administered by the ASPCA to help us cover essential costs.

Thanks to this grant, all fees are waived for for senior pets (7 years and older) through October 31st.

🐾Pets of the week Brutus & Phoebe 🐾

🧡 Brutus' Story
Brutus is a super fun boy! He is about 2 years old and weighs about 71 pounds. He already knows sit and lay down and is learning how not to pull on leash. He has a ton of potential! He is treat motivated and is always up for a walk or a hike. He likes to go on adventures, explore and would appreciate an active home. He has done well meeting other dogs, and has previously lived with a dog about his size. He has also previously lived with kids and does well with cats. This sweet boy is ready for his new forever home!

He's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. He is $185 to bring home! Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee if you say you saw him here.

🧡 Meet Phoebe
We just couldn't pass this girl up from being featured as the feline of the week. She's a girl who is about 13 years old. She is very sweet and loving. She's had a hard life - her owner became homeless and they spent some time living in the woods. She really prefers an indoor life, and would like an indoor home only, please. Despite some challenges, she's friendly and loves to talk to you. She will follow you around like a dog! She would do best with older children vs little toddlers; while she is super sweet, she does have her limits and doesn't like belly rubs. She's never lived with dogs, so a dog-free home or maybe a mellow senior dog companion would be more of her style.

She's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. There is no fee to adopt her throughout October! Help us find Phoebe her forever home!

Let’s help the shelter find Chomper his furever home! 🧡🐾

Chomper had so much fun visiting Area 61 for a quick outing! He met so many new friends and the nice people at the food trucks even gave him some treats. He got his photo taken with the cute decor and wants to wish everyone a Happy Fall!

🐾 Pets of the week Fiddlesticks & Phoenix 🐾

🧡 Fiddlesticks' Story
Fiddlesticks is a dapper gentleman at about 5 years old and about 75 lbs. This sweet fella loves to be doted on and will lean into you for an under-the-collar or rear-end scratch. He is very treat motivate and has shown us he knows 'sit', 'paw' and needs more work on his 'lay down'. He pulls a little on leash, but with consistency and structure we believe Fiddlesticks could be a very well-rounded boy. He's met other dogs here and has done alright, he'll give them a good sniff then walk away and want to do his own thing. He seems more interested in females, but has met calm males nicely. We are unsure of Fiddlesticks history with kids or cats, but believe he could do well with proper introductions. If you're looking for a new best friend, Fiddlesticks could be the one for you!

🧡 Meet Phoenix
Hi! I'm Phoenix! I'm a girl who is about 1 year old. I am super sweet and loving and ready to find a new family. Since I was a kitten, I have only lived indoors, so that would be my preference in my new home as well. I have lived with cats and kids and did well with both. I'd prefer a home with no dogs please - they scare me! I'm loving and gentle and would love to call you my family!

This is a great way to give shelter dogs a change of scenery! It doesn’t have to include hikes, walks, etc. it could include a cozy afternoon at your home playing and getting some needed quietness and one on one snuggles. 🧡

Do you know about our Dog's Day Out program?

You can "borrow" a dog for the day (or even just an hour), and get them out and about! Not only is this a great way to get them a break from the stress of kennel life, but it gives us an opportunity to learn more about them in the "real world."

For instance, we learned that Cali does great on long hikes! She did 9 miles on the Rogue River trail with her volunteer pal, Leah! Leah reports that Cali had excellent leash manners, and even did great when a loose dog (who was not as well-behaved) gave them some trouble on the trail.
