Some photos from our cleanup trip earlier this month. We had a good day despite the low visibility due to rain that week. Some tires were recovered, as well as cans, bottles, shoes, rusting metal signposts and pipes, a tub of stinky mud, a pillow, a sliding board...a can of sealant including all of its solidified deployed contents...gross! This is stuff that should definitely not be in the creek. Thank you to all our participants and partners, including Susquehanna Outfitters, Lower Allen Township, PA, Elizabethtown Troop 117, Mott & Gendron Law, Robert Burns Lodge #464, and Penn State Master Watershed Stewards, York County. With your help we left the Yellow Breeches better than we found it. We also raised close to $1,000 to help cover event costs and support year-round watershed outreach! We have 40 people registered as paddlers + pickers, 6 land crew volunteers, and approximately 28 boats. Latest bacteria monitoring along points of access within the Lower Susquehanna watershed, including Yellow Breeches Creek. July 9 testing indicated high levels of contamination at Lower Allen park and New Cumberland boat launch, with recommendations to avoid contact with the water.

REGISTRATION OPEN: Join our annual cleanup trip on the Yellow Breeches on August 9. Help YBWA pick trash and make the creek cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable. If you can bring your own boat and you have enough paddling experience to remain stable while pulling trash from the stream bed and banks, join us! Register as an individual or group (max. 6 people). Not able to paddle but want to participate? Register as land crew support for check-in, logistics, and trash pickup at designated points. Suggested donation: $10 per person to cover insurance and other costs.
