CARE Uganda

CARE Uganda CARE Uganda is a ministry of two churches in Grant, Nebraska that oversees the sponsorship and care of orphan children in Kayango, Uganda. Kayango.

In the spring of 2007, three men from Kayango, Uganda went up to a hilltop to pray for their village. They spent three days and three nights asking the Lord to send help to their land; the education system was incredibly poor and there was wickedness and poverty everywhere. The three men stayed upon the hill for 72 hours with no food, water or shelter, amidst ferocious storms and swarms of mosquit

os. Eighteen months later, a church in Grant, Nebraska felt the call to enhance their global missions. After researching opportunities, they partnered with Children’s HopeChest who coordinated the sponsoring of orphan children in Uganda in order to give them a better quality of life. The specific village the children were from? On launch day in 2009, all 100 orphans were sponsored by the local church; the Lord had answered the cries of His people in Uganda! After several years and trips over the ocean, the organization has grown from children meeting in a pastor’s home for meals and devotions, to a five acre plot of ground known as the Kayango Children's Kiddukiro, or KCK. The KCK serves as the home to our newly built CARE Uganda Education Centre, a day school for 50 Primary One and Primary Two students and a care center for
112 of our boarding school students when they are on holiday. We officially became CARE Uganda in the spring of 2013 and the ministry is completely funded and supported by the Grant E-Free Church, the New Life Fellowship Church and members of the local community. CARE Uganda connects one child in Kayango with one sponsor in the US. Our sponsors are directly invested in the lives of these children through monthly financial support, intentional prayer, and letter writing. As we work to reach Uganda for Christ through the discipleship of its youth, each child's $40 sponsorship is used to:

*teach them about Jesus Christ
*provide them with a Christian education
*meet their immediate needs
*equip them to be self-sufficient
*encourage them to use their new found hope, education and skills to change
their community and country

Other infrastructure on the KCK property includes:
• Water well that provides water for the entire community
• Large meeting room that acts as a community meeting place and the main building the ministry uses to care for the children on holiday
• Upgraded kitchen built by the Ugandan staff and community
• Fence with gates around perimeter of property
• Small office created from the previous kitchen
• Foundation and first floor exterior walls of boarding school building
• Established electricity which neighboring village members can tap into for their homes
• Three classrooms completely finished to host students of a day school

If you feel led to sponsor or a child or donate to the building fund, please message us!

We are right where God wants us to be, in Kayango, reaching this remote and vulnerable community with the love of Jesus Christ. As we share that love, we are also helping to ensure that the next generation comes to know Jesus and, through quality education, is equipped to address the challenges facing their community.

Today was visitation day at Care Uganda Education Center. This day is important for both the children and their parents. For the children, especially those in boarding, it is a special opportunity to see their parents again after spending several weeks at school. For the parents, it is a time to check on the overall progress and well-being of their children.

During the visitation, the teachers meet with each parent in the presence of the child. Together, they discuss the child’s strengths and weaknesses in both academics and school behavior. These conversations help the teachers and parents work together to encourage each child and guide them toward improvement.

Congratulations!

Last weekend, people in Kayango gathered to honor students who finished a key stage of school. It was a happy celebration, full of thanks and new hope. The graduates and their parents thanked everyone who supported them through prayers and giving. Their achievement reminded us of what God can do when we stand together.

At Care Uganda, many children come to us with no education and little hope. Over time, they learn helpful skills and grow to love Jesus Christ. When they go back home to Kayango, what they have learned in school and in faith brings change to their families and the wider community. This helps the community grow spiritually and also improves daily life.

Thank you to everyone who believes in this mission and keeps supporting these children. Your help is making a real difference. We have also shared photos so you can celebrate with us. We pray they encourage you and remind you that every prayer, every gift, and every kind message can raise a child higher and bless a whole community.

Over the past weekend, we met with the children at the Care Uganda Education Center for a holiday discipleship program. This program runs for 2–3 days during every academic holiday.

During the program, staff members take turns teaching the children and encouraging them to live godly lives. They share important lessons from Scripture and spend time praying with the children.

We were also honored to have our founder, Uncle James Harms, join us. He introduced a Bible quiz program that tests the children on how well they can memorize and understand Scripture, with a focus on the books of James, Romans, and Revelation.

The Bible quiz is currently ongoing and will run until 6 February 2026.

Please pray for the children to benefit from this discipleship program, and pray that God will use the facilitators for His glory.

Christmas Greetings from Care Uganda

As we celebrate this Christmas season, we are reminded of the true reason for our joy, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given” (Isaiah 9:6). His coming brought hope, light, and salvation to a world in need.

At Care Uganda, our mission flows from this truth. In Christ alone we find our purpose, our strength, and our calling to serve. Because He first loved us, we are able to love and serve communities like Kayango, bringing care, hope, and transformation in His name.

This season reminds us that Christ is not only the reason for Christmas. He is the reason we serve, give, and stand with the vulnerable. Through Him, lives are being touched and futures are being shaped.

May the peace, joy, and love of Christ fill your hearts this Christmas and always.

In Christ Alone,
Care Uganda

We have seen true progress in Kayango over the years, helping children receive a good education while also sharing with them the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Today, the children have access to quality education, medical care, proper meals, and the hope of achieving their career dreams.

All this has been made possible through the collective support of people like you.

This , be the reason more children in Uganda know about Jesus by supporting a child.

This past Saturday, 22nd November 2025, Care Uganda Education Center held its annual Parents–Teachers General Meeting. During this meeting, teachers and parents took turns sharing ideas on how to support the children both at school and when they are at home.

This gathering is very important for the life of the school. It helps the school administration to talk with parents about planned improvements, any changes, and the progress of the children, both in their studies and in their spiritual growth.

The meeting was successful and was later followed by the graduation of our top kindergarten class, who will be moving on to Primary level in 2026.

As we come to the end of 2025, we thank God for the real progress we are seeing. We are grateful for the opportunity to reach the community of Kayango with the love of Jesus Christ by educating the children and teaching them about Jesus.
