Hello everyone,
We are getting in touch with a request for anyone that is willing.
The current Administration has proposed a budget for FY26 that would potentially eliminate the Agencies that we use (along with many other camps) to hire international staff. So, this will not effect the summer of '25, but would effect future summers.
We have found that the addition of international staff has truly enhanced the camp experience for everyone over the years. We have also received lots of positive feedback from camper families that support the cultural aspects of having international staff at HVC. It would be very sad if this cultural component was eliminated from the camp experience.
If Congress were to enact the president’s budget, it would decimate the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and eliminate over 150 time-honored exchange programs, including those that we use to hire international staff. The budget proposal shows a fundamental misunderstanding of programs that, at their core, enhance American safety, security, and prosperity, and the proposed cuts put the futures of the Americans who participate in and work on exchange programs in jeopardy.
Exchange programs are a proven investment in America – an investment in our economy, in our people, and in our foreign policy influence and interests. Congress needs to hear loud and clear that to expand America's global influence, it’s important to invest more in international exchanges, not less.
So, if anyone would like to help, the time is now. Please send a letter/email to your congressional representatives and request that they reject the Trump Administration’s budget proposal to defund the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and keep ECA’s funding at its current level, or $741 million, for FY26.
Thank you for your help!
