It is with a heavy heart that we announce a temporary pause in services.
Recently, I experienced a serious health scare that has required immediate attention and evaluation. While the exact cause is still being determined, I was informed that my "widow maker" artery is more than 70% blocked, and I continue to experience concerning symptoms, including numbness in my lips. I will be meeting with a neurologist in the near future for additional testing and to discuss potential treatment options, including the possibility of surgery.
In addition to these health challenges, it has become increasingly difficult to sustain our operations while we await approval of our 501(c)(3) status. Although our application has been submitted, the approval process can take a considerable amount of time. Without this designation, securing financial support and community partnerships has proven challenging. We were fortunate to receive assistance from a local grocery store for a period of time; however, following a change in management, that support has ended due to our current nonprofit status.
Please know that we remain committed to honoring all existing commitments. We will fulfill all current food box requests and complete any assistance efforts that are already underway.
This decision was not made lightly. Since our founding, we have dedicated ourselves wholeheartedly to serving our community, often working 18-hour days, seven days a week. Under the circumstances, continuing at that pace is simply not sustainable while addressing these serious health concerns.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate the understanding, encouragement, and support that so many of you have shown throughout this journey. Your kindness and belief in our mission have meant more than words can express.
Thank you for standing with us, and we hope to return to serving our community as soon as circumstances allow.
