Quad City DAV Chapter #53 Outreach Announcement

We are actively looking for events in the Madison County area (and surrounding communities) where we can connect with fellow veterans.

Our goal is simple: meet veterans in person, listen to what assistance they need, help them file VA claims, and have a Veteran Service Officer available on-site to answer questions and provide direct support.

If you're hosting or know of any veteran-related events, resource fairs, community gatherings, VFW/American Legion meetings, business events, or other opportunities where veterans will be present, please reach out! We would love to attend and serve our veterans.

Contact us to request our attendance or share event info:

Together we can make sure no veteran misses out on the benefits they've earned. Thank you for helping us spread the word and support our local veteran community!

DAV strongly opposes the Office of Personnel Management’s proposal to change federal Reduction in Force procedures because they would remove long-standing veterans’ preference protections and undermine the balanced framework established by Congress.

Veterans’ preference is a statutory safeguard—not a discretionary option—and cannot be diminished through regulation. The proposal exceeds OPM’s authority, violates the Administrative Procedure Act, and fails to justify such a significant departure from established policy.

At a time when hundreds of thousands of veterans serve in the federal workforce, these changes would disproportionately harm those who have already sacrificed for our nation. DAV urges OPM to withdraw the proposed rule in its entirety to preserve fair and lawful protections that keep the promise to America’s veterans.

🚨 Important Update from Your DAV Family 🚨

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with a heavy heart that we share this news:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be able to host our traditional Thanksgiving meals this year.

We know how much this gathering means to so many of you—coming together, sharing stories, and giving thanks as a family of veterans who’ve sacrificed so much. Please know this decision was not made lightly, and we’re truly sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this causes.
We remain fully committed to supporting our disabled veterans and their families in every way we can. Stay tuned for updates on future events.

Thank you for your understanding, your continued brotherhood, and your unwavering service to this nation.

We’ve got your six—always.
