Six Mile Sculpture Works

Six Mile Sculpture Works We are a program of Alfresco Productions, a 501C3 Non-profit institution.

We are dedicated to preserving, promoting and expanding our sculptural and industrial heritage through creative activity. To the public we provide insight and access to our shared industrial heritage through community events, public exhibitions of artwork, and demonstrations that illustrate steel making and industrial processes. To artists we provide residencies, exhibition opportunities, and acce

ss to industrial resources for their creative works. To industry we provide opportunities for civic engagement and the ability to expand their presence through a unique way of interacting with the public.

Six Mile SculptureWorks (an Alfresco Production) is happy to announce the opening reception for three new exhibitions:
The Boiler Room will host two exhibitions from 2022-23 Artists in Residence Bo Schmit and Kale Day. Bo Schmit’s exhibition “Blushing” will run concurrently with Kale Day’s exhibition ‘Perennial Fears”. Both exhibitions represent works created during their time as Alfresco Productions/Six Mile Sculptureworks Artist in Residence.
Also featured at The Lobby at Edison will be works by Lindsay Pichaske. Lindsay’s animal figures are “tricksters” that explore empathy and sentiency while challenging the perceived order of comfortable classifications of life. Lindsaypichaske.com
Opening Receptions Saturday, April 6 from 5:00-8:00pm.
The Boiler Room & The Lobby at Edison
Edison Avenue Art Lofts 2001 Edison Avenue Granite City IL
Bo’s exhibition is a collection of repurposed objects and fabrics transformed into reimagined domestic objects. Bo’s very sweet and nostalgic “furniture like” works use motifs of family and relationships that play on expectations of femininity. Boschmit.website
Kale’s exhibition is assemblage works and material explorations that employ building materials, construction debris and found objects in aggregate amalgamations. Kale often uses industrial materials to explore ideas of decay, neurosis, and fear and societal collapse. Instagram@kaledayart
These exhibitions are brought to you by the Six Mile SculptureWorks program of Alfresco Productions and sponsored in part through partnerships with America’s Central Port Authority and Rise Community Development.
