Spencer Pet Rescue Spencer Pet Rescue is a Non-Profit no kill, dog rescue serving O'Fallon, Illinois and surrounding areas.

Our new mission is to take on the tough cases, the dogs who have been abused, who have trauma and because of that have behavioral issues. Spencer Pet Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dog-only, foster-based rescue dedicated rehabilitating dogs who are currently struggling in the shelter system and then finding them a forever family. We also have programs helping working breeds like Malinois and Labs to find jobs designed for them as well as an owner foster program to help prevent dogs from being surrendered to the shelter. Spencer does also provide training to dog owners at a reduced fee. All dogs fostered/adopted from Spencer come with FREE TRAINING FOR THEIR LIFETIME!

Miss Coco needs a foster or forever home!

We thought she was going to a new foster today but we haven’t heard back from them.
She is an active girl and needs a place where she will be kept mentally and physically stimulated and fulfilled.
She would make an excellent little sport dog!
About 2 years old and only about 50lbs. We think she is a lab/Border Collie. 

✅Kid friendly!
✅Dog friendly!
✅Cat friendly with dog savvy cats
✅Crate trained but needs a portly break after about 4 hours.
✅potty trained

She is still learning how to navigate living in a house and needs some direction as she will spin if she gets overstimulated and is not sure what to do with herself. But with a little guidance, she is great in the house!

✅Food motivated!
✅ loves Training!

She would make a super fun little sport Dog or hiking/adventure Buddy.
She is not a one walk a day, kind of dog, but also does not need a full-time job.

💗 ADOPTABLE Coco LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME!

Meet this 2-year-old spayed female Lab mix — possibly some Border Collie in the mix — and she is an absolute sweetheart! 🐾

This girl LOVES everything and everyone. People? Loves them. Dogs? Loves them. Kids? Loves them. Cats? Yep, she’s good with those too! ❤️

She is one of those dogs who could really go in just about any direction. Her combination of food and toy drive makes her a fun candidate for continued training, an active family, dog sports, or simply being an awesome adventure buddy.

She’s smart, social, motivated, and ready to learn!

The only thing I’ve noticed so far that we’re continuing to work through is that she tends to spin when she gets overstimulated. It’s something we’re monitoring and working on as she learns how to better regulate her excitement.

Overall, this girl is an absolute gem and has SO much potential. 💕 Whether you’re looking for a family dog, training partner, hiking buddy, or a dog with the potential to explore something more, she could be your girl!

Coco is a 2-year-old, 45 lb spayed female Lab mix — possibly with some Border Collie sprinkled in there — and she has so much potential!

🏠 Learning the whole “living in a house” thing

Coco came from a shelter, so house life is still a little new to her. She’s learning the routines, expectations, and how to settle into being part of a family.

When Coco gets overstimulated, she can spin. We’re working on teaching her that she doesn’t need to do that and helping her learn better ways to regulate and settle.

And WATER?! 🌊 We haven’t tested her yet, but with her confidence and willingness to jump into just about anything, I have a feeling after a couple introductions she’d be all about it. 😂

Honestly, this girl could be SO much fun for someone wanting to get into dog sports! 🥏🎾 She’s athletic, confident, toy-driven, social, and ready to DO things. Whether that’s disc, dock diving, agility, hiking, or just being your adventure buddy, Coco has a ton of potential.

She’s looking for someone who will keep showing her how awesome life outside of a shelter can be. ❤️

🐾 ADOPTABLE WAYNE — PLEASE READ HIS ENTIRE POST 🐾

Wayne is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois looking for a very specific kind of home. He isn’t going to be the right dog for everyone—and that’s okay. We want to find him the right home, not just the first one.

Wayne will require someone with working-dog experience, preferably someone who understands Malinois and what these dogs are capable of when their needs are met.

Right now, Wayne is learning how to just be a dog. ❤️ There is some drive hiding in there; he simply hasn’t figured out where or how to channel it yet. We’re slowly building that confidence, engagement, and enjoyment of working with a handler.

He enjoys his walks and will play a little fetch, although right now his attention span says, “Okay, that was fun… what’s next?” 😂 He’s also slowly learning the whole house-dog lifestyle and making progress!

A few things about Wayne:

🐾 Working-dog experience is a MUST
🐾 No cats
🐾 No small children
🐾 Doing great with an e-collar as part of his training
🐾 Enjoys walks and some fetch
🐾 Slowly learning house manners and how to settle
🐾 Must be kenneled in a Ruff Land or similarly secure kennel—a standard wire crate will not be sufficient

DOG INTRODUCTIONS WILL BE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Wayne needs someone willing to take introductions seriously, move slowly, and not rush the process. If there is already another dog in the home, that dog needs to be stable, extremely dog-savvy, and appropriate for him.

Wayne needs structure, patience, clear expectations, appropriate outlets, and someone willing to continue showing him what life can look like. He is not a dog for someone wanting to “try out” the Malinois breed.

But for the right person? There’s a really cool dog in there waiting for someone who understands him. 🖤

Mr Zinc went from being picked up by animal control Friends of the Pet Adoption Center to now being a drug dog in Arizona!
Dogs like him are why the working dog program exists!
