Sierra Kronan May newsletter

Dear Sierra Kronan Family,

Glad maj, kära vänner (Happy May, dear friends)!

As we step into the beautiful month of May, we are reminded of the joy of renewal, community, and tradition. Spring is in full bloom, and with it comes a season of celebration, gratitude, and togetherness. This month, we look forward to honoring the special people in our lives at our combined Mother’s and Father’s Day Luncheon—a heartfelt time to share fellowship, laughter, and appreciation.

Please remember that we will not meet in June, so this May gathering will be our opportunity to come together before the summer months. We encourage everyone to join us and be part of the warmth and camaraderie that makes Sierra Kronan so special.

Dear Sierra Kronan Members and Friends,

Hej kära vänner!

I’m pleased to share our April newsletter with you, filled with highlights from our recent gathering and a look ahead at the exciting events coming this spring.

We had a wonderful time at our last meeting enjoying good food, great conversation, and the warmth of fellowship. It was also especially meaningful to welcome Carol Lyon as a new member—her initiation marks a strong and positive start to the year for our lodge.

Looking ahead, I hope you will join us for our April Ham Luncheon and Potluck on Friday, April 17th. Bring a favorite dish if you can—or simply come and enjoy the afternoon with us. As always, the focus is on community, laughter, and spending time together.

There are also several upcoming opportunities to get involved, including the VASA Convention later this month, the Rocklin Heritage Street Faire in May, and preparations for our Sweden Day Picnic (don’t forget to start practicing your Kubb skills!).

Cheryl and I had the good fortune to attend the VASA Pacific Southwest  #15 convention in Southern California. Cheryl and I are actually members of Pacific Southwest District because we are also members of Northstar Lodge. We have been for about 25 years. Cheryl‘s family has been part of the VASA organization for a very long time. I was looking at the charter that was on display at the convention and someone mentioned to me that I wouldn’t recognize any of those names because it was so long ago. Actually, I did, the District Secretary Irma Wendell is Cheryl’s great aunt. I knew Irma quite well. She was a very nice lady.
Overall, we had a great time. The banquet was fantastic with good food, great music and lots of singing to ABBA.

We have our convention coming up in April. There’s a convention schedule at the end of this post if you’re interested to see the details of what will be happening. If you’re interested in attending as a guest, you can do that. Contact us and we’ll get you a reservation form. The banquet on Saturday night is always a lot of fun.
