If you have never been in Wells Fargo Bank in Grangeville, you should stop by and see this beautiful old grandfather clock!

It has quite the history and is now over 200 years old.

It started its journey by boat in 1822 to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then in 1891 it made its way to the bank of Colfax (Washington). Then it made its way to Grangeville. It was first placed in the lobby of the Imperial Hotel. Then when First Security Bank was built it was placed in the lobby there, where it remains today. (It is now Wells Fargo).

You can click on the photos to enlarge them. This pamphlet was printed in the early 1980’s.

Someone posted this photo on the I Grew Up In Grangeville FB page.

I have this actual photo as it is my family.

This is the 1913 Grangeville Border Days Parade.

The woman on horseback on the right is my great Aunt Pruda Mason Farris McLean. I am told she was quite the horsewoman and business woman.

The woman horseback on the left is her daughter Opal Farris Gunter. She and her daughter Eloise Gunter (Elton Gunter was her father) ran the Gunter School of Dance for many years.

Thanks to Gail Renshaw for the added history information!

Birdseye view of Kooskia about 1910.
The little white building on the right before you cross the bridge is still there today. It was the original Forest Reserve Supervisors Headquarters. The bridge is no longer at this location.

I have always liked this photo.
This is the an old photo of the Stites Stage in Grangeville. The stage road used to be on what is now State Street. This house in still there on the corner of N. State and W.N. 3rd. St. It is known as the Behean House. It was built in 1901 for Cassius M. Day, the last survivor of the 'Brave Seventeen", heroes of the 1877 Indian War. George Behean was a well-known cattle man from the Salmon River. He came to Grangeville and bought the house in the early 1920's. My family purchased the house in the late 1960's and owned it for quite a few years before selling it.
The other house in the background was still there when I was growing up. Robert and Carrie Poole lived in it. It is now gone. I believe it burned down.
