Grandville Historical Commission

Grandville Historical Commission Dedicated to preserving and protecting the history of the City of Grandville since 1969. The commission is a volunteer organization.

It operates a museum in the lower level of the City Hall and the No. 10 Schoolhouse. There are several active committees these include The museum, schoolhouse, workroom, computer, and photography. The No. 10 schoolhouse is an 1887 one room school house located in beautiful Heritage Park. Many school groups of 2nd and 5 th grades visit the schoolhouse yearly for the experience of learning in a one

room school house. The museum consists of two large rooms filled with local memorbilia, graciously donated by local residents both current and past. There is a large photo collection of area residents, residences, and community related events. Also, newspaper and obituary files. The commission meets the 3rd Monday of the following months: January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November. Visiters are welcome and new members are always welcomed.

Need a special Christmas gift for your favorite history buff? The new reprint edition of Bend in the River, the history of Jenison and Grandville from 1832-1972, is available for purchase at the Grandville City Clerks office any business day and at the Grandville Museum (lower level of City Hall) on Wednesdays from 1-4. Cost is $25 and benefits the museum.

To those interested in history of the area of Grandville/Jenison, please come to this informative get together at the Grandville Library this Thursday to help celebrate the reprinting of Bend In the River. Meet some of the delightful people who helped with this book. Buy a new book or bring your own copy to have Marilyn and Esther sign it! Ask questions and have some refreshments with us! Hope to see you there.

We send an invitation to join the Grandville Historical Commission!
We are a group of Grandville area folks who love our city and enjoy its history. We meet on the third Monday at 7:00 PM in Grandville’s City Hall. We do not meet in June-August and December.
Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings, or join us on Wednesday afternoons from 1-4 at our Museum which is located in the lower level of the Grandville City Hall.
