Thanks for all of your support over this past year! Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to once again honor all 543 veterans buried at our cemetery.

Please join us at the Grandview Cemetery on Saturday, 17 Dec at 9am for our Remembrance Wreath Laying Ceremony. This is an awesome way to Remember the Fallen, Honor those who serve and their families and Teach our youth the value of freedom. Spread the word and invite all of your friends!

On Purple Heart Day, we specifically remember the sacrifices made by the brave members of our military.

Did you know . . .
- According to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, more than1.8 million Purple Heart medals have been presented since the award was created in 1782
- In 1942, Army Lt. Annie Fox was the first woman to receive a Purple Heart for her heroic actions during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
- Service members can receive multiple Purple Hearts throughout their military career

The WAA Mobile Education Exhibit is coming to Kennewick on Saturday, 6 August from 10am - 2pm.

The purpose of the Mobile Education Exhibit is to not only Teach the next generation about service and sacrifice, but to share stories of patriotism and love of country to communities around the United States.

It will be located at Mueller's Funeral Home at 1401 S. Union St.

The 48’ exhibit is equipped with a 24-person screening room that showcases the different aspects of the WAA mission through video. In the exhibit, there are three interactive computers to showcase locations, trucking supporters, and general wreath sponsorship questions. There is also an education wall of information on the different areas of WAA and where the mission will be going in years to come.

Thanks to all who came out to remember and honor our fallen veterans this morning. It took just over one hour to place an American flag at each of the 540 veteran gravesites.

Here is some info regarding Memorial Day activities at the Grandview Cemetery:

FLAGS-IN: SATURDAY, MAY 28TH, 8:00 AM - Meet at the Grandview Cemetery stage to place flags on the graves of Grandview veterans. Volunteers are requested to help place the flags - many hands make light work.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY: MONDAY, MAY 30TH, 11:00 AM, Grandview Cemetery. Note: The US Flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise to Noon on Memorial Day.

FLAGS-OUT: MONDAY, MAY 30TH, 6:00 PM – Meet at the Grandview Cemetery stage to help retrieve, inspect and store the flags for next year.

On Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day) we honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Freedom comes at great cost - we do live in the land of the free, because of the brave. Never forget our heroes.
