Attendance of Decoration Day seemed to be down for 5-2-26, but donations were up. Many thanks for the total of $3771 that was donated in person including the last week’s mail-in. We averaged $700/month in expenses last year: lawn maintenance, fire ant treatments, and grass burr treatments/fertilizing. The trust is finally paying monthly interest which provided half of what we needed this past year ($4700).

President Loyd Nations spoke of more road work needed to possibly encompass the entire cemetery (the unoccupied area to the north, close to the church gym). We will let our checking account build up one more year before deciding on the next plan of action.

Our checking account is at $19K, the small CD is at $25K, and the large CD is at $142K. The only agenda items were to 1)re-elect 2 board members: Celia Hansell and Mack Pryor, and 2)to set a Fall Work Day which will be for Saturday Oct. 10. Mark your calendars. More emphasis will be on raising stones then which is a constant battle in the sand.

We are blessed to have such caring volunteers, workers, and funds in place to maintain our cemetery.

We had a turnout of 17 folks to help with the Spring Cleanup Day. Things were tidied up in record time! We are grateful for those who pitched in: Phyllis Blakeley, Sid & Jane Brannan, David & Nancy Crim, Marie Creech, Don Edwards, Kelly Cannon, Rhonda Kilsby, Jerry Pate, Kim Pettiet, Mack Pryor, Sandra Rhodes, Scott Stephens, June and David Ward, Loyd Nations, and Dan Knight.

SPRING WORK DAY set for April 25.
Bring your work gloves, rake, broom or shovel. We will work from 9-noon.

DECORATION DAY is May 2. The business meeting will be in the church gym at 11am. A potluck lunch will follow. Donations for the cemetery upkeep can be given to any board member (Loyd Nations, Celia Hansell, Mack Pryor, Nancy Crim or David Crim).
