Greenville Boy Scout Troop 3040

Greenville Boy Scout Troop 3040 We are a youth organization for boys that promote character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness for every member.

The Greenville Kentucky Boy Scout Troop was originally founded in 1938 as Troop 40. Through various changes in the Council, we became Troop 3040. We are part of the Lincoln Heritage Council in the Tecumseh District. Our Charter organization is the First Baptist Church also in Greenville KY. We meet every Tuesday night at 6PM in the Scout House on Bonham Avenue. All boys age 11 to 18 are welcome to join.

The Boy Scouts from the Central City and Greenville troops met at our house tonight for a little competitive fire starting competition. They started with some trivia with the winners getting to select what they would get to assist them in starting their fire. I have to say they had some pretty good flames going for a while. They ended the evening with prizes for those who got their fire started and successfully boiled water and were rewarded with hot cocoa.

The Greenville Kentucky Boy Scout Troop was originally founded in 1938. Today, 85 years later, our troop still believes in the same core values as when it was formed. To quote Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, "Scouting is a game for boys under the leadership of boys under the direction of a man."

Our troop welcomes any boy between the ages of 11 and not yet 18. They will develop self-confidence, outdoor skills, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that will influence their adult lives. Our troop has weekly meetings and also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, backpacking, fishing, shooting sports, kayaking, rock climbing, and many more. The boys plan the meetings and events, so it's all up to them!
