Hi everyone! Long time no see. Our core team is going through some personal issues so we have been less active on socials, but still out doing distributions weekly 🥰

Our donations allowed us to purchase a large catering hot water container recently, and our little coffee and treat bar has become quite popular among our friends at Heartside and Mel Trotter. Lately we have gotten multiple dessert and soup requests, so if you have some extra time on your hands and like to cook or bake, please message us for details and coordination.

We'll be sliding into spring soon, where we will be scaling up meals again as more folks are out and about, so every bit helps.

Since 1998, Red Project has been providing free and equitable access to the tools, knowledge and support to live healthier lives. Supplies that help prevent the spread of bloodborne illnesses like Hepatitis C and HIV, and support to keep people coming back.

Due to these efforts, the rate of HIV acquired from injection drug use in Kent County has dropped from 25% to just 8%. That's something to celebrate, and something to build upon.

Be on the lookout for our new Naloxone boxes around Kent County and Grand Rapids!

If you see a box, take a look inside, grab a kit, and help keep our community safer. Each box is stocked with free, intranasal naloxone to help prevent overdose deaths.

Every kit taken could help save a life!

Mutual aid exists in nature, so why not in our communities?

Bees pollinate flowers.
Clownfish protect sea anemones.
Small fish clean sharks to survive.

That’s mutual aid - and harm reduction is natural, too.

We practice harm reduction every day, but we typically only name it when talking about drug use. The truth is, harm isn’t created by people - it’s created by policy, stigma, and criminalization. And just like in nature, we can choose to protect each other.

One powerful way we do this is through community-based Naloxone. The more Naloxone that’s accessible, the more overdose deaths we can prevent.

Shouldn’t we keep our friends and neighbors safe?

Red Project provides 100% free Naloxone and free overdose prevention trainings across West Michigan - because when we show up for each other, people stay alive.

We can’t do it alone. Please consider supporting The Grand Rapids Red Project this holiday season and help us remove barriers to health in our community:

Huge thanks to Planty Peeps Party Bus and Albatross Aviary for letting us attend their event this past Saturday to chat about the work we do and share some of our cookies. Thanks to them we were able to raise almost a hundred dollars in donations! We look forward to using these funds to help with more winter foods and necessities in the coming weeks ❤️

Yesterday 4 different households came together to make a full Thanksgiving meal for the unhoused, where we served 25-30 (photo is only a fraction of the food). Here's what we served:

🍁 Brown Sugar Ham
🍁 Honey Ham
🍁 Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
🍁 Green Bean Casserole
🍁 Corn Pudding
🍁 Rolls
🍁 Roasted Chicken Sliders
🍁 Mini Pumpkin, Apple, and Pecan Pies
🍁 Hot Chocolate and Hot Apple Cider
🍁 Misc snacks

Thanks to everyone who has helped us make this work possible! As we gain more members we will continue to scale up so we can serve as many folks as we can.
