Honoring the Life & Legacy of Jalen Shaffer, Class of 2018

This year’s Homecoming carried special meaning as the NorthPointe Christian community remembered and celebrated the life of Jalen Shaffer ’18, who passed away earlier this summer and was posthumously selected as NPC’s 2026 Alumnus of the Year.

During a special halftime tribute, Jalen’s family was presented with his NPC football jersey. Throughout the season, Mustang football players also wore helmet decals in his memory, and Jalen’s number was designated a Jersey of Honor within the program.

We invite you to take a moment to listen to this special tribute from Tom Molenkamp, our High School Principal and one of Jalen’s former coaches, as we honor Jalen’s life, legacy, and lasting impact on our community.

Alumni, we hope you’ll join us!

Our High School showed up today in their Night of Nets shirts in anticipation of tonight’s soccer game! ⚽ Proceeds from admission donations and t-shirt sales will support our ministry partners in Zambia by helping provide bed nets to families affected by malaria.

And tonight is just the beginning! We’re inviting our alumni back to campus for two nights of Mustang events:

⚽ Thursday, October 1 | Night of Nets
Varsity Boys Soccer • 7 PM

🏈 Friday, October 2 | Homecoming
Varsity Football • 7 PM

Come back, cheer on the Mustangs, reconnect with your NPC community, and enjoy a night on campus. We hope to see you at one or both!

A pretty cool NPC alumni connection! 🎶

Two NorthPointe Christian alumni took the stage at SonFest Music Festival in Ohio last weekend!

🎹 Luke Tibbe '26 (pink shirt) played keys for one of the festival’s opening acts, while fellow NPC alum Chris Renzema '13 (black shirt) was featured as one of the main acts. The two even had the chance to connect during the day, an especially meaningful moment since Chris’s music has been a big influence on Luke!

We love seeing where God leads our graduates and the unique ways their paths continue to cross beyond NorthPointe.

🙏 Prayers Needed for Dave Anderson 🙏

Many of you remember Mr. Dave Anderson, a beloved teacher at NPC for many decades. He recently suffered a serious fall and could use our prayers. Below is an update from his son:

“My dad, David Anderson, fell down the basement stairs this past Friday, all the way from the top to the bottom. He broke his elbow, humerus, collarbone, and five ribs. Although he was very active before the fall, there are still a number of complications due to his age. The good news is that he did not land on his head and did not suffer any organ damage. We are hopeful for his recovery, but he remains in the hospital and is going through quite an ordeal.

He had surgery on his elbow on Saturday and will likely need shoulder replacement surgery in a couple of weeks. When he is discharged from the hospital, he will be transferred to Mary Free Bed for rehabilitation. His recovery process is expected to take most of the summer. At this point it is best not to visit him, but when he is out of the hospital he might appreciate some visitors.

Please pray for my dad’s healing without further complications. Also pray for my mother and I as we take care of my dad as best as we can. We are grateful that my sister was home on vacation when this happened, but she has to fly back to Korea on Sunday."

Please keep Mr. Anderson and his family in your prayers. 🙏
