THE VILLAGE NEEDS YOUR HELP RESTOCKING! 💗

We are running extremely low or are completely out of quite a few essentials! With families picking up groceries every single day, our shelves are emptying faster than we can refill them. 🥹

Our biggest needs right now:

Canned EVERYTHING! We are down to just soup and SpaghettiOs!

Rice & beans

Vienna sausages

Fruit cups

Granola bars

Shelf-stable milk

Cat food & dog food (we have treats and toys for both, but need actual food!)

Shampoo & conditioner

Bar body soap

Liquid body wash

Toothpaste

Diapers in sizes 1, 2 & 3

We go through SO much every single day making sure Kent County families have groceries and everyday necessities. Even donating just a few items makes a difference when we’re helping this many households. 💗

We are feeding families every single day, and keeping our shelves stocked is a constant effort. Some days it feels like we just filled them, and the next they’re empty again! But that’s also a beautiful reminder of just how many families we’re reaching. 🥹💗

Oooof 😅🫣 Nothing tells me it’s time to go shopping for the village quite like seeing THIS many empty crates!

These are usually filled with groceries waiting to go out to Kent County families, but clearly we’ve been putting them to WORK! 🥹💗

Looks like it’s time to grab the shopping carts and get these babies filled back up! 🙌🏼

A good problem to have because it means groceries are getting into the hands of families who need them! 🫶🏼

You guys 😭💗 Somebody reached out and told me they had some pull-ups they wanted to donate to the village. I had NO IDEA this was how many they meant!!! I am completely blown away by this generosity!

They asked to remain anonymous, but that doesn’t make me any less grateful for their kindness. 🥹🫶🏼

These are going to be such a blessing to families in our community! Things like pull-ups are expensive, and donations like this help take one more worry off a parent’s plate.

Thank you for thinking of our village and showing up for families in such a BIG way. My heart is so full! 💗

This project means more to me than I can put into words 😭💗

It’s been 1 month since I lost my grandfather, Richard Crooks, at Sunrise of Cascade.

There was a moment at his funeral when I completely broke down. It was when they said that my grandfather had this incredible ability to make people feel SEEN. No matter who you were, he had a way of making you feel like you mattered.

And in that moment, I realized that’s where I got it from. 😭

Making people feel seen, heard, loved, and valued is something I’ve always tried to do in life and through The Salty Mama It Takes a Village Project. I didn’t realize just how much of that came from him until I was sitting at his funeral.

And that’s something I want to carry with me for the rest of my life. To continue making people feel seen, just like he did. 💗

So in his honor, we’re putting together sick kits and comfort essentials for the elderly residents at Sunrise of Cascade, the very place where he spent his final days.

We’ve created an Amazon wishlist with Depends, hygiene products, blankets, nutritional drinks, and other essentials. We’ve also added a $1,000 comfort fund for anyone who would like to contribute!

Our elderly deserve to feel remembered, cared for, and SEEN. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean the absolute most.

If you’re able to purchase something, contribute a few dollars, or share our wishlist, I would be so incredibly grateful.

I hope I spend the rest of my life making people feel the way my grandfather made people feel in his 95 years.

It wasn’t just the incredibly generous $750 donation that brought me to tears tonight. It was the little note attached to it. 😭💗

Some days are long, exhausting, and overwhelming. There is so much that happens behind the scenes that nobody ever sees. I pour so much of myself into this little village, and sometimes I forget to stop and recognize just how far we’ve come.

And then I read something like this. 😭

To this incredibly special person I hope you know how much your words meant to me!

Your donation is going to help feed so many Kent County families, but your message fed a part of my heart that really needed it!

Thank you for seeing me, believing in me, and reminding me that the work we’re doing matters. I don’t take a single bit of it for granted. 💗🫶🏼

Started the day with a shopping trip to Daily Deals, got groceries out to 6 Kent County families, and then baked cookies galore after the workday was done!

My parents are back in town, so OBVIOUSLY I had to make them a batch! And tonight was our neighborhood fall block party so naturally I brought cookies as my contribution! 🥰

Between running the nonprofit, feeding families, baking for my own family, and spending the evening with our neighbors, I am officially READY FOR BED… and it’s only 8 PM!! 😆

My feet hurt, my kitchen smells like cookies, and my heart is full. 💗

Tomorrow we wake up and do it all over again! 🫶🏼

We had TWO huge donations come in today, and I didn’t even realize it until now!! Sometimes those unexpected surprises are truly the BEST feeling. 🥹

Sarah donated $100 to our GoFundMe, and we received an anonymous donation of $750!!

That’s $850 in donations TWO shopping trips for the village right there!! 😭🙌🏼

I cannot thank you both enough for thinking of Kent County families and choosing to support what we’re building here. That money is going right back into groceries and getting food into the hands of families who need a little extra help.

It still blows my mind that people believe in our little village enough to give so generously. Whether your donation is $1 or $750, you are making a difference!!!!!
