“That is often the way of the oppressor. He cannot understand the simple fact that people want to be free. So, when a man resists oppression, they pass it off by calling him “crazy” or “insane.”

***New Intern Alert 🚨***

We are excited to add Diana to our amazing team. Over the Summer, Diana will be working alongside our Early Childhood Educator Registered Apprenticeship team.

Diana recently graduated from Michigan State University 💚 with a Bachelor's in Social Science.

Originally from Wyoming, Michigan, Diana has volunteered across West Michigan and has been involved in her local community 👥 through leading youth retreats for the Diocese, providing knowledge and resources 📚to parents and students 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 about FAFSA in local public schools, 🏫 along with informing residents about their rights to vote through canvassing for the community.

Currently, Diana would like to continue giving back to her community with the resources and knowledge she has gained from her undergrad and support underserved communities to better their success in academia and the workplace.

Happy National Apprenticeship Week! 🎉✨

At Steepletown, we’ve seen how powerful Registered Apprenticeships can be in creating real pathways into early childhood education 🌱👶🏽📚. Through our ECE Apprenticeship Program, individuals are able to earn while they learn 💼💡—gaining paid, hands-on experience, classroom instruction, mentorship 🤝, and nationally recognized credentials 🏅. But what truly makes this model impactful is the level of support behind it ❤️.

Each apprentice is paired with a coach who meets with them one-on-one 👥, helping guide them through the CDA process, navigate challenges, and stay on track while balancing full-time work and life responsibilities ⚖️🧠. Combined with wraparound supports and wage growth tied to skill development 📈💰, apprenticeships create opportunities that are both accessible and sustainable 🌍✅.

Over the past five years, Steepletown has supported expanded access to the ECE field, particularly through initiatives like our Spanish-language cohort 🌎🗣️. This cohort was designed to support passionate early educators who have historically faced barriers in accessing CDA credentialing due to language. In partnership with the Literacy Center of West Michigan 🤝, apprentices in this cohort received ESL instruction alongside their training, helping them build both the language and professional skills needed to succeed 💬🎓.

Through partnerships with Ready by Five and access to Child and Family Advocates 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, apprentices also grow in their understanding of community resources 🧭, strengthening not only their professional skills but their ability to support the families they serve 💛.

This work is about more than workforce development—it’s about building stronger systems of support for children, families, and educators 🏗️❤️. We’re proud to support the educators shaping the next generation! 🌟👩🏽‍🏫👨🏾‍🏫
