Happy National Apprenticeship Week! ๐โจ
At Steepletown, weโve seen how powerful Registered Apprenticeships can be in creating real pathways into early childhood education ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฝ๐. Through our ECE Apprenticeship Program, individuals are able to earn while they learn ๐ผ๐กโgaining paid, hands-on experience, classroom instruction, mentorship ๐ค, and nationally recognized credentials ๐
. But what truly makes this model impactful is the level of support behind it โค๏ธ.
Each apprentice is paired with a coach who meets with them one-on-one ๐ฅ, helping guide them through the CDA process, navigate challenges, and stay on track while balancing full-time work and life responsibilities โ๏ธ๐ง . Combined with wraparound supports and wage growth tied to skill development ๐๐ฐ, apprenticeships create opportunities that are both accessible and sustainable ๐โ
.
Over the past five years, Steepletown has supported expanded access to the ECE field, particularly through initiatives like our Spanish-language cohort ๐๐ฃ๏ธ. This cohort was designed to support passionate early educators who have historically faced barriers in accessing CDA credentialing due to language. In partnership with the Literacy Center of West Michigan ๐ค, apprentices in this cohort received ESL instruction alongside their training, helping them build both the language and professional skills needed to succeed ๐ฌ๐.
Through partnerships with Ready by Five and access to Child and Family Advocates ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ, apprentices also grow in their understanding of community resources ๐งญ, strengthening not only their professional skills but their ability to support the families they serve ๐.
This work is about more than workforce developmentโitโs about building stronger systems of support for children, families, and educators ๐๏ธโค๏ธ. Weโre proud to support the educators shaping the next generation! ๐๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ซ๐จ๐พโ๐ซ
