🚨🚨The developer for Breton Hamlet has submitted yet another request to amend the approved development plan 🚨🚨

This time seeking larger homes (up to 4,000 sq. ft.), increased building height to two stories, and additional reductions to green space and natural buffering.

These changes would further alter the character and original commitments of the development plan and are incongruent to the GR City Master Plan .

If you would like to share your perspective:

1) Attend the public hearing tomorrow at 1:00 PM

2)Submit emailed comments or letters by 9:00 AM tomorrow to:

Important Oxford Hamlet Announcement from Elizabeth Zeller, City Planner. Note the ways to make your voice heard should you choose to express concerns!

The previously agreed upon size of the units and amount of green space are being petitioned to make the units larger and the green space smaller, which will leave a lasting impact on the surrounding neighborhoods.

1) Attend the May 28 hearing at 1pm and voice your feedback in person

2) Email feedback to the planning commission [email protected] by 9 a.m. the day of the hearing.

I wanted to bring to your attention that the Planning Commission will be considering an application from the developer of Breton Hamlet for amendments to the development. All property owners and residents within 300’ of the property were sent postcards notifying them of the hearing.

The Grand Rapids Planning Commission will hold public hearings on the following matters on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the City Commission Chambers of City Hall, 9th floor, 300 Monroe Ave NW, beginning at 1:00 p.m. or soon thereafter.

The request will be evaluated by the Planning Commission for compliance with the standards of Article 5 and Section 5.12.08. of the Zoning Ordinance.
