Over 25 million American men, women, and children have it, and if current trends continue, 1 in 3 of us will have it in the next 15 years. And then there are all of us who love or care for those 25 million sufferers. We all have been, are now, or will be affected by diabetes. Those of us who have diabetes use glucometers, insulin pumps, syringes, diet, exercise, and much of our time and energy try
ing to control the disease. If we don't, coma, blindness, numbness in our limbs that could lead to amputation, impotency, and kidney disease are the results. Those of us who love or care for people with diabetes help the sufferers stay vigilant against the life-threatening effects of this horrible disease. Our support is vital to each and every diabetic person who is struggling to live a normal life in the face of this deadly disease. We want to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a global research foundation focused on supporting those with insulin-dependent diabetes, find a cure for diabetes as soon as possible. JDRF helps sufferers learn to manage their disease, supports research into new tools for insulin control and potential cures, conducts clinical trials, and educates people all over the world about how to prevent or manage diabetes. We have each pledged to ride 100 miles in Death Valley on October 18, 2014, to raise money for JDRF, and we need your support.
