Grace's Table Grace’s Table walks alongside teen mothers as they transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Grace’s Table exists to move teen moms from lives of isolation and absence of advocacy to a community in which they belong, with access to spiritual/emotional support, advocacy, and continuing education.

Her daughter often stays close to mama, quietly taking everything in.

But today, we looked up and saw them lost in a moment of joy.

It was our favorite moments of the day.

Because belonging doesn't always need words.

Sometimes it's a mama and her little girl, giggles, and two enormous smiles.

Joy needs no translation.

Our Hope & Hygiene shelves are running low, and we need your help restocking a few everyday essentials for the young mamas we serve.

Our most urgent needs are:
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Body Wash
• Pads
• Lotion
• Pads

These may feel like simple items, but reliable access to personal care products supports dignity, confidence, and well-being.

On her first solo shift, they did what they naturally do...jumped right in, helped wherever they could, connected with mamas, and eventually found themselves feeding and snuggling a little one.

The next day, we sent them a photo from the evening and thanked them for the ways they keep showing up.

Their response? “Thank you for thanking! (I don’t think anyone EVER does THAT!)”

And there it is.

At Grace’s Table, we talk a lot about a community of mutuality. That includes our volunteers, too.

No one is simply here to give. No one is simply here to receive.

We notice one another. We care for one another. We remind one another: you matter here, too.

That’s belonging.

Sometimes the best resource in the room is another mama.

Today at Playgroup, every room was filled with mamas and kiddos and everywhere we turned, conversations were happening.

Mamas were sharing community resources they’ve found helpful. Other mamas were asking questions. Experiences were exchanged. Connections were made.

And the beautiful thing? Grace’s Table wasn’t at the center of it. Mamas were.

They carry knowledge, experience, and wisdom that benefits the whole community.

When one mama discovers something helpful, she makes sure another mama knows about it, too.

That’s mutuality.

Not just receiving from community, but being part of what makes the community richer for everyone.

There is something powerful about sitting down to a meal that’s already been prepared for you.

Not rushed.
Not pieced together.
Not an afterthought.

Intentional.

Nutritious food tells a mama:
You matter
Your health matters
Your child’s growth matters

And from that place of dignity, she’s able to step into learning, connection, and growth.

Things got a little spicy at Grace’s Table last week.

We wrapped up two weeks of conversations about boundaries, requests, and ultimatums and the mamas came with questions, opinions, and plenty of real-life examples.

Then came the real test: Kahoot.

Phones out. Competition fierce. Bragging rights on the line. And a prize for the winner.

Because learning together can be serious without always feeling serious.

We ask questions. We challenge each other. We laugh. We practice. We learn from one another.

That’s what community around the table can look like, too.

“Thank you. You are so nice.”

Four little words from a four-year-old that stayed with us.

This week, mamas and kiddos spent time playing and exploring together at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum . As a few families headed out to continue their afternoon downtown together, a Family Advocate handed them water bottles for the walk.

Nothing big. Just, Here, you might need this.

And then came those four words.

So much of belonging is built this way. Not through grand gestures, but in the ordinary moments when we notice one another and respond with care.

A water bottle. A thank you. An afternoon spent together.

A mama comes to Playgroup every week because she wants her daughter to be around other children to play, connect, and grow.

Usually, her little one is a happy observer.

But this week, she found her voice.

She started making sounds and “talking” with the other kiddos, and more than once, we caught her mama watching with the biggest, proudest smile.

Later, her Family Advocate texted to celebrate the moment. Mama responded:
“I'm happy she start talk with babies and her development. I just thank you so much, you make me comfortable.”

That last part got us.

Because before connection comes comfort. Before community can grow, there has to be a place where you feel safe enough to keep showing up—across differences in language, culture, or experience.

And week after week, this mama does.

Her daughter is finding her voice. Mama is finding community.

And all of us are richer because they are here.
