Zachariah Jok Char

founder of the Jok Char Development Foundation. One of the lost boys/girls of South Sudan, Zachariah was displaced at the age of 6 at the beginning of Sudanese conflict that would result in over a 20 year civil war. During that time, Zachariah lived in a Kenyan Refugee camp for 13 years. During the late 1990’s, the United States began a refugee placement program and in 2001 Za

chariah moved to the USA. Since Zachariah has been in America he has worked a number of different jobs, such as a dishwasher and meat factory employee to help pay his way through college. In 2005 he had graduated with an associates degree and by 2010 he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Kuyper College. Zachariah now works for Bethany Christian Services as a social worker in the refugee department.
