Sidewalk Advocates for Life

Sidewalk Advocates for Life America's largest sidewalk outreach organization, saving lives and ending abortion.

America's largest sidewalk advocacy organization -- we're on a mission to transform the sidewalk in front of every abortion facility in America and beyond into a place of real help and hope and end abortion. We offer a peaceful, prayerful, law-abiding program that teaches others how to reach hearts outside their local abortion or abortion-referral facility and offer loving, life-affirming alternatives.

If we really aren’t doing something important, why does anybody care to fight against us? Why does it make people angry if we’re in a public space praying and offering free help to those who want it… unless there was something worthwhile to what our work was about?

“Two of our advocates were standing on the sidewalk, greeting passing vehicles with smiles and waves while also engaging with women entering the Planned Parenthood facility. At one point, a man approached them who was visibly upset by their presence. He began questioning them on several issues, including why they were there and whether they were attempting to prevent women from entering the facility.

His tone and body language escalated to the point that another male passerby stopped to ask the Advocates if they were okay. Although the man denied it, the interaction quickly turned into a heated argument between the two men, including raised voices and profanity.

Throughout the situation, our Advocates remained calm and composed. They continued focusing on their purpose—speaking kindly with women entering the center—and one Advocate made an effort to respectfully explain who we are and why we were present. Despite his continued anger, the man eventually left after realizing he would not provoke a reaction from the Advocates.” –Sara, Washington Advocate

This is one of MANY reasons why abortion access is not "liberation" for women.

This is one of MANY reasons why abortion access is not "liberation" for women.

At the end of May, a young woman called the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline desperate for help and for someone to believe her. Thankfully, the hotline nurse who answered her call at 4:00 a.m. was deeply concerned. Once again, a woman had been poisoned with abortion drugs and help was...

“We were on the sidewalk outside of the clinic when a couple arrived and parked near our team. When we greeted them the woman went immediately into the clinic, ignoring our team, but her boyfriend came right to us to ask for help supporting her. He said that she had hyperemesis, and has been sick non stop for 3 months and it is at the point that she can’t take care of the other child. He was very receptive to the Advocate, but still was firm on their decision to abort, but he did take information and allowed us to pray for him.

This is just one example of what we are seeing very frequently at this clinic: story after story of illness or diagnosis being the leading factor for the abortion decision. We are working hard to adapt to this and educate ourselves to meet the clients well. We are so grateful for the SAFL resources, they have been crucial!” – Shanteyl, New Mexico Advocate

Advocates, have you been seeing an increase in “medically-necessary” abortion clients? How has your team adapted your approach? What resources have you found that you love to share? Let us know via message or in the comments
